Who knows Gmail inside and out?

I'm trying to find a few emails I've sent in the last few days and when I click on "Sent Mail," the most recent one is from three weeks ago. When I click on "All Mail," the most recent one is from three days ago. And how do I save emails? There is no "Saved" folder. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm, that's odd. Have you tried a search?

You can make folders and rules.

Gmail does support POP and IMAP so you can set up a local machine with a mail client to do a regular mail fetch which can act as a local backup.

As far as "saved" mail. Just don't delete the mail. If you don't delete it, then it's saved. Actually, even when you delete mail, it's not really deleted. Gmail has a "Trash" folder which is just like the Windows Recycle bin. It's unlikely that most folks will actually permanently delete mail from Gmail unless they are working really hard at it.

I'm not sure about your sent mail, that's weird. Mine has everything that I've sent in it.

Do a search. It'll be there.

You can create a label called "Saved". Then you can apply that label to items that you want to keep. Then, you can remove the "Inbox" label from those messages. That way, they will not appear in your inbox and will only show up when you click on "Saved"

Verizon trash auto empties from what I can tell.

But, that's OT.

I believe gmail trash auto deletes messages over 30 days old...

Could someone else have been logged in when you sent them? They should appear in your sent folder. Use the search window and search on a word/name you know was in the e-mail.

The place I frequently find "sent" e-mail I've lost is in my drafts folder.
