A night at the museum.

(X-post from RL)

We had some good friends over for dinner last night and just before that we made an evening visit to the museum where my wife works. She arranged a visit to the cellars where a large part of the collection is kept.
I've been several times in there after closing but every time it's a real feast. The atmosphere in the empty halls and corridors is quite superb.
A lot of the trophees in the below pictures are donated by hunters and colonials, my grand-father donated a truck load of horns, skins etc in 1955.
There are over 300 persons working in the museum of which 80 are researchers.
My wife is responsible for all technical, maintenance and security personnel.

My wife's office is on the far left, 1st floor. The view from her windows is absolutely superb.

The museum celebrates its 100th year anniversary this year.

View from the inner court, nice little restaurant in there too.

Pictures from the inside to follow.

Some of these pictures might seem disturbing, feel free to comment. The below pictures are from a small part of the stored collection which does not require specific climatised conditions.

A maquette of the Albertville, the steamer my grand-father took more than once to travel between Congo and Antwerp.

We're back above ground. Flash didn't deliver as expected.

Here's some nightmare material in jars.

Close-up dome.

That's it.
