Yes, the one I posted is the one for sale. Looks like a Series 80 to me, but I thought the 1991's had "1991" stamped on the slide.

I think that is just on the older full-size models which had "M1991A1" on the left side. That 4.25" 1991 should have "Colt's Commander Model, 45 Automatic Caliber"" on the left side, and "-Series 80-" on the right.

BTW - Nice score!

Never had any issue with mine, and IWB is the only way I ever carry. For a rightly, you shouldn't need one though, and I would probably forego the extended slide release too. For snipe and I (southpaws), they can make it easier to drop the slide on a mag change with the strong-hand index finger. However, the only one I would recommend is the (slim) Wilson variant. Every thing else usually has too much weight/mass, and can lock the slide when you don't want it to.

Rick,

Call Jack Fuselier. He specializes in 70 and 80 Series Colts and Gold Cups. He usually has several around for the price you are talkng.

Thanks Redbeard, but this deal is just about done and I don't think I'll be buying another one for.....well, at least a few weeks;).

Eric, do you even carry your Kimber? I've only ever seen it in your glovebox. Or do you leave it there because you know I'm always carrying? Man, we've checked out some houses together where I was glad to have a sidearm on me.

Can't beat A Colt!

I have a Colt Commander in .38 Super that was made in 1950. It is in about 95% condition, Colt royal blue with ivory grips. I bought the gun about 20 years ago for $325 and have never regretted the cost for a second. And, no, I won't sell it for what I paid!!!

Just picked her up from my FFL. Photos don't do her justice. She's gorgeous, looks unfired and certainly uncarried. Full range report coming after the weekend.

I will own a 1911 someday but I find it interesting after participating in several IDPA competitions that the only failures I have seen is mainly the guys shooting in CDP (.45 class). My wife's boss ended up get rid of his Kimber as it often jammed in the middle of a stage (this after it had been sent back to the factory twice). When I someday get CCW and start carrying, it will likely be a Glock as I have yet to witness a failure of any kind in any of them at IDPA matches.... They simply go bang every time in whether they are clean or dirty and whether they are a 9mm, .40 or .45. They also don't have any silly safeties to mess with in a dire situation.

As I said, I will probably own a 1911 someday, but I think I will stick with a no fuss reliable plastic gun for everyday carry.

Glock: Blowing holes in American cops legs since 1985.

Right on cue, but a little late.

Best,
