USF1 team is nada
This is both surprising and disappointing.

Oh well. That is a shame.

Keep F-1 where it belongs..."over there". Seriously, this is sad.

The entire USF1 effort was/is an embarrassment to not only American F1 fans but to American open wheel racing fans, racers etc.
WTF were they thinking? We'll just wing it and pull the coin together as we go? Thanks for a complete amateur effort KA, CH & PW...way to go! Had my hopes up real high for a miracle that never materialized... Oh well, life goes on I'm not bitter, really ;) |
its sad but I never really considered them as the real deal, for starters you can't be in N. America to race there, just ask Mike Andretti if it works.

The hopes for serious open-wheel racing in this country died with Champ Car/CART.
The Atlantic Series is fun, but will never be mainstream - the cars aren't powerful enough. The IRL is a friggin' joke. It's another casualty of the U.S. economy the way I see it. Why should F1 come here (or subsidize us to go there) when there are far more lucrative markets with far more money emerging (i.e. China, the middle east, SE Asia, etc.)? Those guys can "pay to play" and we can't. |

While most of the race shops are in England - there's a large source of specialty shops supporting the F1 teams based there, that shouldn't have made that much of an impact on the team. They were based in NC (?) which has a sizable supply of machining and fabrication expertise as well. I think it was a lack of funding support - sponsorship. Without a deep-pocket sponsor to foot the start-up costs, any team is behind the eight-ball. If they only needed a few mil more, maybe they could have called upon the F1 fans in the US for small donations until they could enlist more sponsors (or pay for the Cosworth engines they needed). The odds of them having been on the grid in 2011 are about as good as F1 in Austin- 2012.

Jeepers, when did this happen? Another casualty of this year? Tragedy if so. It was fun to watch.
What the heck did they run at LBGP this year? More stupid drifting? |

I dunno, maybe 2012 'is' pushing it (cuz the world ends right ;) If this group has the scratch and Austin wants to pay "The Bernie" his excessive fee, why wouldn't it happen? I haven't read up (yet) on where the money is coming from in Austin, but I suspect someone had to step up otherwise they wouldn't have got this far?! Right? Fingers crossed , again! My cousins pad in Austin is amazing and will make an excellent base camp for an F1 weekend! I'll buy my tix as soon as they're available. |
