I live in a town that regulates EVERY THING!
7 am is the law to use heavy equipment and leaf blowers here. The City's Gardner's building is 100 yards from my bedroom window. I sleep with the windows open. They start engines and back up heavy trucks with the BEEP BEEP alarms at 6:30! I've fired off many emails but the mayor could give a rat's balloon knot. Right next to the Gardner's building there's a tennis court. Some summer nights people like to play till 11 ! The lights do turn off at 11 so most people leave. I've have to call the cops once or twice a month for people playing in the dark @ 2 am! I get woken up several times a week at 6:30 by tennis players or Gardner's. I will relish the day that I sell my house. |

HOOT! Spoken like a true Californian. Up here, we mow when we get a dryish day. I plan on mowing later today...probably start around 1 or 2, end around 5 or 6. Yeah...8 is too soon. |
In San Antinio it gets nasty hot in the summer. 8am doesn't sound unreasonable, but 8pm would probably be better. You really have two choices - in the morning at 75-80 degrees / 100% humidity or when it's dusk at 95 degrees and a lower humidity. Neither are any fun.

I have a gardner, he mows the lawn sometime on Wednesday afternoons.
|
8AM is too early for mowing, but not for sawing logs :)
|
If you live in the south, you mow around 7:00am, or 7:00pm. By 9:00am it's way to friggin' hot.
|
8AM = too early, especially on the weekend.
Better to do it the night before, @ 7pm-ish then relax with a scotch and cigar admiring your work and the sunset. :D |
8 AM is ok for weekdays, 9.00 AM for weekends.
|
I would consider launching mortar rounds at someone who fired up a lawnmower close to my place on a Saturday before 10am. 8am is ridiculous. I rarely get to sleep before midnight, and usually my best sleep is between 6-10am for some reason. Since I can't sleep that late on the weekdays due to the boy and work, the weekends are the only time.

It can easily be ~100 around here by 10AM during the Summer. I try to wait until I hear at least one other person mowing, but I tend to mow whenever I feel I have less of a chance of stroking out in the yard from the heat. It has been raining in the afternoon here for the last three days. I can hear my grass growing right now :)

Ah - low, sustained, booming noises. Nine, nine-fifteen.

Why ask here? Why not ask the neighbors that you are concerned about offending?

Mow at midnight with these... :p |
Or even better, let it mow itself at midnight, while you sleep in until 9...

I would never mow before 10 AM. Lots of folks work late and sleep in. If my neighbor was out mowing at 8 AM...I would probably mow mine about 2 AM and see if he likes it.

It was more of a general question anyway. |
Sure ya can mow at 8am, as long as you don't mind me playing my guitar at 3am
