Loved him in Apocalypse Now & bonus bits in AN Redux.
"The other day he told me that if I did't stop talking he would kill me. And he MEANT IT." |

RIP hippy!

RIP Dennis.
I grew up watching this great actor. Damn shame but he lived a full life and was a true artist. He will be missed. Godspeed Mr Hopper. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1275205681.jpg |
One of my very favorites. "Frank" in Blue Velvet was one of most powerful characters ever. I can't think of any real duds either.

It's Denis. :)
That's a great poem and he does a masterful reading of it. He really had an artist's soul. That poem always seemed classically American to me, even though Kipling was British. That's the brilliance of it, though. Everyone identifies with it through their *higher self*, including national identity, etc... IMHO, of course. |
I'm not so sure that he was reading it, looked like he knew it..

He epitomizes the counter-culture for many, and that is a bad thing. He was married FIVE TIMES and served his last wife divorce papers on his death bed. According to Rolling Stone magazine, he was "one of Hollywood's most notorious drug addicts." BTW since you had to bring up politics, here is a quote from the "man" himself: "I've always been political," Hopper says, "but I haven't always been a Republican. I was with Martin Luther King [and] at the Free Speech Movement in Berkeley. I was a hippie. I was probably as Left as you could get without being a Communist." Asked what happened, Hopper says, "I read too much Thomas Jefferson and decided that every 25 years you needed to have a change if you're really going to have a republic, and the Democrats had been in power too long." |
Whatever, dude. Take all of your fears and phobias over to PARF where they, (and you), belong. You're stinking-up this place.
