What's with Boys Cheering on fighting girls.

Just watched some footage of two teen girls fighting and the boys are cheering them on. What happened to the boys stopping the girls from fighting? When I was at school if the girls got to punching the dudes would step in pull them apart. Now the boys are egging them on.

I wouldn't stop anyone from fighting. I don't understand why some folks feel the urge to intervene in a fight between strangers. Sit back and enjoy the show. Two kinds of problems in the world - theirs and mine. That's one of theirs.

Well maybe it's not that simple.
What if you see someone getting the snot beat our of him by someone much bigger?
What about two guys kicking the crap out of one guy?

I'd like to think I'm brave enough to at least try and intervene...
Just seems the right thing to do.

I agree. I think that's the problem these days, it's the "it's not my problem" adage. Well it's fast becoming all of our problems as society (especially teens) is getting more violent. Nothing seems to shock teens anymore. I think the interwebs has a lot to do with 'desensitizing' them.

Look at video games, movies, MMA fight "entertainment" and a general disregard for life (even their own) and it is no wonder that we have a problem.

Actually, it is pretty simple. Just because a little guy OD'ed on testosterone and got into it with a bigger guy or even two others does not mean someone should step in where they have no idea what's going on. I used to play in a band and saw plenty of fights in bars break out. I couldn't care less who started it or for what reason. Ain't my problem. It's not like I'm going to prevent some huge crime by breaking up a fight. And it's just not worth taking a punch for a total stranger, especially one who might really deserve what he's getting.

You've made some good points and when alcohol is involved it's often unclear what's really going on.

I guess ultimately it depends on the situation.

What if the two guys are kicking the crap out of him cause he raped one of the guys little sisters?

Unless i think its a mugging/rape/woman battering situation, i do not get involved in fights. I worked plenty of years in bars where i HAD to get involved, and have taken many inadvertant shots and sucker punches over it, and usually the person getting their ass whipped deserved it.

You got that totally backwards. The US has a more than decade long trend of declining violence, from the highs of the early 90s.

I would not intervene because the dude getting his ass kicked might very well deserve it.

Exactly. And even if he didn't deserve it, unless I really know the situation and am friends with the guy losing, I just don't see the point in getting involved. Ain't my job to make the world right. More politicians should adopt this attitude. Most of the problems in the world are a result of someone trying to make a situation "right."

Man, I saw the best cat fight in 8th grade. Two girls went at it in the cafeteria. Took a few teachers some time to get to them and then longer to pull them apart. Oh, it was the best! As they were being marched out separate exits, one of them broke free and made a dash for the other one and it started all over again. Those were the days!

First weekend at college I saw a guy pick up the cinder block holding a door open and use it to punch another guy in the face. The punchee shook it off and had a much, much larger and tougher buddy nearby and they beat that puncher to within an inch of his life. It was almost like watching Henry and Jimmy killing Billy Batz in Goodfellas. I can't believe that kid survived. Now, why the hell would I have guaranteed myself an ass-kicking by getting involved between those three?

a buddy of mine ended up a prosecutor in illinois handling domestic abuse cases for the county. he generalized on the cases he'd seen. the straight couple fights were over fairly quickly. man hits women, she falls down, the end. the gay males would get in long screaming hissy slap fights. with little real damage done.

but the lesbians would just tear into each other. real bloody.

the best fight i ever saw (not the best i was ever in....) was two girls. cat sounds, nails, good stuff, one of them with the other's hair in hand punching like it was a paddle ball. i ended up dating the winner for a few years. fun times.
