D&C is one of the most absolutely boring and tedious activities on earth IMO.

I prefer cheerleaders with batons and short skirts.

Isn't that the point? It's the dedication, discipline, and sacrifice that makes it so special. Those qualities make this country and those who fight to protect it great.
If it were easy it wouldn't be so special.
Too many kids in this world don't appreciate hard work and discipline. Like Rot.

It definitely requires a LOT of LOT of LOT of practice standing long hours in the cold, rain, sun, you name it, practicing all of that over and over and over and over again until it is absolutely perfect.

I was assigned to a funeral detail for a little while, like pretty much every combat arms guy has been i guess, which i viewed to be an honor, but my god....it's boring.

Those are some very dedicated individuals.

my buddy just got got out of the Army last weekend. went to the track with me for the 500. Started his service in Old Guard at DC....finished off his Active duty as an operator with 5th Special Forces group.

He just got picked up to go fly Learjets for the ANG.

Any of our military members make me proud.

Ah yes, I figured my post would not go over well.

What makes me proud are the men and women actually fighting in Iraq and the Stan. Not a bunch of dressed up robots that are mainly used as a recruiting tool.

They spend every February at MCAS Yuma, AZ learnign their new show for the year. 7 days a week at least 10 hours a day drilling. The dedication and work is amazing. The Marine Drum and Bugle Corps put in just as many hours t the same time.

Being elite is not easy.

Sammy, obviously you know nothing about me or my work habits.

How about you Sammy, what is your military record? Or do you just cheer from the sidelines?

Some of you guys need a to take your Midol. Sheesh.

Everyone who serves or has served has earned my respect. Like Kurt, I don't get excited about the D&C's or bands, but I respect all in uniform. Even jarheads. Go Navy!

Rot has said in the past he is a vet. I understand what he's saying to an extent.

Jeff, that wasn't a troll, it was my opinion. Drill teams are nothing more than a recruiting tool for the various services. Nothing about it makes me proud. It is just a show. Like the Blue Angels.

Kurt is a US Army vet and I understand where he is coming from.

The drill team is the fluff to show off to the locals here at home, but the real hero's are the guys and gals overseas sleeping in a foxhole or maybe a tent thousands of miles away from home protecting us.

He could have worded it a bit differently but know the feeling. I still remember the hours I spent on drill wearing that damm hot uniform walking around the parade grounds in the sun in the Ozarks during summer. Still, was very happy that Viet Nam ended before we were sent over.

Just got an email from a good friend who is in Iraq with the Army. We forget how good we have it over here until we hear things like what they are going through on a daily basis.

Sniper and Joe are correct. U.S. Army 1973-1999. And I was one of those guys living in a foxhole at various times in my career.

Went in on June 22, 1973 and spent the summer at Leonard Wood!

Just like Drill Instructors, Recruiters, just because they are now doing this doesn't mean they didn't serve time in combat, in fact I would guess they did.
