A Man's rifle.

I took both of mine to the range today.

There was a Iraqi war vet practicing. I asked him if he ever shot one, he said no. I offered but he declined. He did hold it and said "Man that's heavy!"

My Son and I ran about 98 rounds out of 'em

Plus, .45 and 7.62

I shot one of these years ago when I was in the Army. On the same day we also shot the old "Lee Enfield .303 rifle"...

The M1 is a solid piece of kit that inspires confidence when held.

I always liked that "ping" sound it makes when the last round is fired and the clip is ejected.
It really gives it a unique character. :D

And it's not bad to shoot either.

M1 Garand on top

M14 on the bottom ( M1A civi version, no giggle switch)

vash 06-01-2010 06:46 AM

i want the socom 16, i believe is the modern version of these...BAD!

get this. my brother's best friend is going to cancun. (he is a cop, and i think going to mexico is stupid..but whatever)..no spending money. so he is selling his for $1100!! i tried to pounce, but my bro bought it. i was bumming. he then tells me the manufacture sent him one, brand new for SWAT play. it is in his office, and he has no intention of shooting it. they all own personal ones anyways. the manufacture doenst want it back..and will sell it for a "deep discount"..i am so ready to pounce. i'll shoulder roll to this deal. my wife and i are arguing about it. EFF! she may put the brakes on the deal...arggghhh! if my bro says $1000 or less...i may have to tempt divorce..heheh.

M-14's are VASTLY overpriced.

Jim Bremner 06-01-2010 07:48 AM

Vash,

sub 1k would be one heck of a buy. if you get it and you're in a free state, buy as many 20 round 1960's mags as you can! they run great. my pc 10 rounders fail to feed more than I care to say. but all of the 20 rounders that I've owned prior to the ban run fine.

Snipe, M1A's are over priced? a little bit....but less than HK's.

The real steal right now, and they've gone up lately is M1 Garands from the CMP

$595 gets you a real M1 garand that was gently loved by our forces. M1 Garand Sales

That video Sniper posted is amazing...

red-beard 06-01-2010 08:14 AM

What I REALLY want is an SR25 from LRB...

vash 06-01-2010 08:20 AM

telling my lovely wife that we could sell it for a tidy profit is not helping...she knows i would never sell it...

i'm gonna be SUPER-husband for the next few weeks straight....shameless!

I think Gen Patton called the M1 the ultimate battle implement, or something like that.
