PCA iphone app
the lead article in the monthly email is about the pca iphone app. for $4.99 in the itunes store you can buy it and receive the following:
The PCA iPhone Application has the following features: Find Porsche dealers and Porsche related service providers using GPS or zip code Find tracks closest to you using GPS or zip code Find out what PCA region you are in using GPS or zip code, then link to that regions website View events happening in PCA's 139 regions Store your PCA membership number Store your PCA.org login Renew your PCA membership Join PCA when was the last time you were driving across the country and suddenly needed to find out what tracks were local to you because you had packed in all your gear "just in case" you happened upon a track? you can already store your pca membership number multiple ways on an iphone like using email, notes, or any host of other apps. i am willing to bet the google app (that i use on a daily basis) will out search just about anything, and it has voice control and direct links to associated phone numbers. anything else you can already do free on the website with any iphone (safari), so why would anyone spend $5 to do it again? am i missing something here? |
To charge $4.99 for an iPhone app that will likely only be used by people that have already joined PCA is ridiculous.
Vu - Drop the price by $4.99 and I'll consider adding it to my phone. Until then, no thanks. While you are at it, bring down food event prices at Parade. Parade should be a thank you for members who attend not a big money maker for the national organization with millions on the bank. |
Why??
|
If you're suffering with a family event or out of town for work, it might be cool to drop by a local track just to visit. But I wouldn't pay for an app to tell me where it was. I stopped by Roebling Road 2 weeks ago when I was in Savannah....just because.
There was one car running on it. With a crew and everything. A Martini livery Corvette. |
Why not make it free to PCA members?
|
There's another I-phone app. I'd rather have...that is if I had an I phone. It can measure your break speed in a pool game.

Long enough to be a regional board member....

Volunteer labor is hard to find...for sure. Next thing you know, you'll be running for regional Veep... (I did that once)
|
I have to agree, I can't think of any reason to pay for that app. The prices for Parade are approaching insane. PCA is a great club, but like so many clubs the bigger they get the more removed from reality the board of directors become. I know a few of them personally. I will pass on my feelings at Parade this year.

Must be a "beta version" as I could not find a tab directing me to the nearest "wine & cheese party":D
|
Yep, not likely adding that app to my phone, even if it was free for members......
|
I like how the first category is for repairs :p
|
What is this "iphone" you speak of?
|
I just about gaged when I saw the price. How ridiculous.
|
Not only am I not buying the app, I let my membership lapse after 15 years.
Time to move on... |
