It's That Time of Year Again - the TT

Practice this week until the 5th, then the racing starts. Noteworthy is BMW's return to the TT. From last year, just to whet your whistle:

Official Americans at the Isle of Man TT thread

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Figured we'd get a jump start on this thread as we all have a busy week ahead of us......

Hopefully our WERA family and their friends will follow all of us Americans at this years Isle of Man TT especially the ones who call WERA home; myself, Jimmy V and Critter.

For those who dont know, Jimmy and I have teamed up for this years TT and will be riding for HEL Performance. We have a website up and running, Prestige Worldwide Racing - Isle of Man TT 2010 - Brandon & Jimmy so check it out if you havent already, we will have daily (or try to!) twitter updates.

As you may have seen in a recent RRW.com press release, C.R. Gittere also has some cool stuff going on for his second year back at the TT with Geico and Discovery Channel, you can follow him at Gittere Motorsports Inc..

Or you can just follow this thread as I am sure all 3 of us will be posting updaes occasionally on here as well.

Jimmy left for England this evening and I will be leaving for Belfast tomorrow evening. We will both arrive on the island on Thursday to start getting everything sorted for first practice on Saturday.

I wont lie when I say I am excited but nervous as hell!

I am sure I can speak for all the Americans at the TT this year when I say thank you so much to everyone who has shown their support in any way shape or form. We couldnt do this without our sponsors, fans, friends, and family.

Here's to a great TT!!

Completely mental this is.

I'm not sure I could ever overcome my reaction of doing this race and when blasting through the towns, not expect to be pulled over by a cop.

Hey Jeff - check out this vintage on-board footage of Joey Dunlop on a Honda V4. I like his quote near the end: "This is a dangerous one, this next one, where the walls is. I think that’s where I gain a bit because it scares a lot of people them walls and it doesn’t scare me. You can get through it alright but you can hit your helmet against the side of the wall you’re so close to it."

I like the TT but its almost like the F1 at Monaco, the time is past for these venues

Jeff Higgins 06-02-2010 03:13 PM

Very, very cool, Curt.

F1 in Monaco is nothing like the TT. Both are dripping with tradition, to be sure, but that is where the similarities end. Monaco is swimming with the dolphins at Sea World. The TT is swimming with great whites, outside the cage. There will always be a place for that in sport. At least I hope so.

Nucking futs.

I just like listening to Guy Martin:

thank you for posting, very cool.

would be neat to see someone do a quality editing job gluing bits of video from a string of years together. Just to hear the different sounds of the bikes alone.

No kidding. And to think, the video always makes it look slower than it looks from the saddle (or driver's seat).

how can a race against the clock compare to 70 parade laps with no passing?

actually i wish there were more races like both of these still.
all the great ROAD GP are gone. sure the dangers abound on races done on real roads but the cockie cutter tracks out there leave me wishing for more of the good old days.

even spa and lemans arent the same as they were just a few years ago.

I love the TT.......will it be broadcast on the tube or online?
I have a TT video game for the ps2 which is a total pia to master (you have to adjust the driver position and all) and there've been times where I jump because I tapped a wall and went flying, I couldn't even imagine going down there at speed......
Big big cajones over there :D
