Monkey see monkey doo doo
well a week ago or so i posted some pics of the "J" frame smith und vesson stainless. well our infinite wizdumb lead us down some interesting roads.
1st not every model 60 smith und vesson shoots .357 magnums. hmmm. how we came to this conclusion was by getting my hunting peudner over with some of his .38 loads and .357 loads. hes bean shooting .38/.357 forever and reloading them. so while feeking around getting our hunting licenses together to put in for deer,we stumbled(emphasis) upon some interesting knowledge. we wondered why this lil "J" frame would not seat a .357 round all the way. being the engineering kind of guys we were and noting the cylinder marks internally where the bullet leaves the casing seemed to be where the .357 stopped. hmmmm we wondered could the residue be stopping the round???? chucking up a .38/.357 brush to my cordless and cleaning the snot out of the 5 cylinders w/hoppes didnt change nothing. .357 round didnt seat correct. next i called smith und vesson gurus and spiritual advisors(straight to the horseys mouth) and found out that this particular model ONLY ACCEPTS .38 special rounds and .38+P's. well i was bummed big time as we all know a .38 is good on bad guys, but not so good on rabid java-leaners,mtn kittys, bobby kats, black bears, teradactyls, velociraptors. so i sulked and pouted and read every ad and magazine and smith und vesson corp propaganda that i could. what i wanted was a model 60 1 7/8" barrel, .357/.38 no rear sight, with exposed hammer,fixed-pinned front sight stainless. and last night the spoon fairys delivered. after work made the rounds of my fave spoon shopees and found me exactly what i wanted to complete my stainless smith und vesson stainless collection. going out this am and blast at least 100 rds on this new "J" frame with soon to be wifey blasting her browning buckmark to gain competence. after i get 200 rds thru the pipe off it goes to nelson ford(thegunsmith.com) for his SUPERSMITH job which the "N" frame .44 mag has already undergone along with dual magna porting. after nelson is done with it i will magna port the .357 and leave the baby "J" frame alone as nelson already did his supersmith job on it after we broke it in. picked up some pachmeyer decellerator zoomy grips for it, cleaned all the packing grease off of it and lubed her up with in an inch of its life. ready to go-go right now right here. so i present to you my collection as i single handedly kickstart the american economy by BUYING AMERICAN SPOONS AND SPOON SERVICES. warning if ya look at the Ti frames and scandium frame smith und vessons.........be very smart about NOT USING HOT ROUNDS on them. they dont like that and can COME APART! thats why i went with stainless. plus very lil maint if it gets rainy muddy out hunting velociraptors or teradactyls.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1275739432.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1275739489.jpg |

yes you can tell by the above WE ARE ROCKET SCIENTISTS!
that lil "J" frame has the CLEANEST DAMN CYLINDERS on da planet after the cordless drill and .357/.38 brush treatment. hahahahahaha cant wait to blast the new "J" frame today. the quicker i burn 200 rds down the tube the quicker it gets to "the gunsmith" for supersmith job and the quicker it gets to magna port for barrel werk. magnaporting ($95 bucks), supersmith job $149 bucks. both of the above WORTH EVERY DAMN PENNY! you dont know what yer missing shooting "just" an out of the box smith. butter trigger, wayyy less muzzle rise, chamfered cylinders for yer hks speedloaders. single action trigger insane, double action is butter. cylinder timed etc. |
after furr-thurr rocket scientist ree-search..........................
when thangs go bump in da NIGHT....................... XS BIG DOT TRITIUM FRONT SIGHT fer pinned front sight "J" frames only .part # RV-0001 N-3..............$60 bucks. have to drive oem pin out, maybe file a little new sight to fit. then drill with larger drill bit to accept XS larger new pin and waaa-laa front NUKLAR NIGHT SIGHT! |
well just got back and got thru with cleaning the spoons we used today. what a blast out in da middle of da dezert. very few people due to deadly heat warnings.
deadly smedley. when the going gets tough the tough go shooting! all i can say is soon to be wifey is really getting the hang of long distance shooting with this browning buckmark. see the advantage of going to the dezert is that its reality(REALITY) not some goofy paper target world of exact yardages and how peoples groups all have group hugs and touch juan another. see out in da dez you can have close bad guy(a pallet someone left) 25 -30 yds away, middle bad guy bush at say 40-50 yds and long distance bad guy bush at say 85-100 yds. the bushes were maybe ashtray size pucker bushes. ya get to see yer hit be it high low left or right by the dirt flying. now you may say your big daddy king poo and your the baddest azz shooter on da planet. let me tell ya somethang..............with ODDJOB UNOS PATENTED training class , i can gurannteee you would not want to be on the receiving end of the soon to be wifeys, 5.5" browning buckmark w/ new hi-viz front green sight , at the bad guy close position, bad guy middle position, nor bad guy far away position. now since she really is a complete FNG as far as the shooting world, when she finished with her brick of .22's, she had a huge grin on her face as she had mastered her weapon. which she did like a trooper. i was proud i had bestowed my infinite wizdumb on another willing student in the finer arts of spoon 101. she now easily has a 1000 trouble free rounds down range since last week. but being the humble master i am................i had to show her what the bad guys can expect from a INSANELY LONG 1 7/8" pip squeek barrel on the new model 60 .357, as i literally blew up close bad guy pallet, mid range bad guy bush, and long range bad guy bush! dont EVER scoff at some lil ass baby barrel "J" frame at 100 yds. i sure as hell wouldnt bet my life on it ever. cuz if the guy has mastered his pistole, its gonna hurt a hell of alot when he connects. yeah you read that right. a pip squeek 1 7/8" barrel .357 at 100 yds. and i just tried the remington golden sabre .38+P's and they really ARE YUMMY! low recoil and insane goofy accurate. nasty looking jacketed hollow point on them. these are gonna be the anti teradactyl/anti velociraptor, mtn kitty, bobby kitty, bear rounds. most of the above shooting with pip squeek barrel was with my buddys goofy secret unknown ,38 special recipe and secret unknown .357 mag recipe both with just copper clad round noses. and a box of federal .38 specials and some federal .357 JHP thrown in fer drill. i am ODDJOB UNO AND I APPROVE OF SMITH UND VESSONS model 60 5rd stainless .357/.38 1 7/8" barrel pistole! |
after blasting a pic of the smith family to my cop amigo/county coroner in houston, tejas, he came back and suggested i pick up a smith und vesson "K" model stainless in .357.
these were produced i think from 1970 to 2004 being end of production. these "K" frames are the medium frames in stainless. 2" 4" and 6" barrels. stock from factory w/ nice wood grips if lightly used or NIB unfired. if fired they have yer usual suspects for grips(pachmeyer or hogue) due to standard "OUCH FACTOR" attributed to extensive .357 shooting. a quick check on prices showed from about $335 used to a $600 NIB UNFIRED for these. i like the "4" barrel and the 6". gonna keep my eyes peeled for juan coming up here. damn nice addition to the "familia smith". just noticed the UBER RARE model is the early juans with stainless rear sights. blued rear sights signifies later models. this particular one was $795 NIB. |
