Santa Monica Parking

KTLA does a "location shoot" and gets multiple parking tickets while on air. I think the Panamera also got a "fugly" ticket as well

pretty funny - the reporter really did a great job of staying on message

she also said they "had $$ in the van" for the parking - not clear if they actually paid

they were smart to park the fugly Panamera next to the even fuglier Sube

I never liked SM much to begin with, so it will be easy for me to keep my money out of their pockets. In fact, I think the SM Chamber of Commerce is going to have their plate full of damage control. This will cost SM a lot more than what they pay that meter maid POS.

Speaking of parking control officers, she must have had a tough bout in high school or earlier. Being really ugly as an adolescent might push one to pine for authority. She fits that profile in my book.

I want to give her an ugly citation.

Take that as you wish.

The problem is you don't know what happened before. Could this be a parking nazi? As someone who lives in SM, I can verify their existence due to both visual and financial contact. But I have also seen a lot of reporters "on scene" who behave as if the world is supposed to revolve around their "story." I could easily see some conversation happening before where the reporter was told not to park there and them replying that, "we're doing a shoot." As if that is the most important thing in the world.

It seems the 'reporter' thought they had paid to park. Now, the issue may be where they parked. They may have not pulled into marked spots.

Still, can't SM POS meter watchers give some leeway to a temporary situation involving a camera crew, etc.? I mean SM has never seen filming, right?

I think MM was on the rag.

It's part of the leftist Santa Monica mentality. Those with cars are too wealthy for society's good, and must be punished...

THIS IS IT!

I do biz in Santa Monica on Mondays. I've seen meter maids block traffic to write citations.

I've seen them u turn their geeky karts with out looking. One nearly caused a wreck.

I had a guy try to write me a citation as I pulled up at the meter befor I could get out of my car to drop coins in the box.

I've been yelled at by a meter maid for driving my Silverado due to it being bumper to bumper in the space! He told me that I should buy a PRIUS!

I do not buy anything nor do I eat in Santa Monica. I get in and get out. I've had far to many citations there.

I was going to break my spending rule one night down on Main Street. I had gone all day with out eating and I needed to eat right NOW ! It was 7:45 at night and I asked a meter-maid "what time do you stop extorting $$$ for meters"

He Replied that they do not extort $$$

"If I do not pay you coins you charge me $$$ that's extortion!"

WE CHECK METERS 24 hours a day on this street was his response.

I went up to Palms and ate at Versailles

2-part epoxy in a syringe should "fix" meters

Imagine if everyone revolted.

I kinda like Santa Monica.

two words... parking structure...

+1 on TV personalities sometimes having a tude... I have worked with this reporter a few times and she didn't seem too bad... but then I was just on the sidelines.

we don't call it the "People's Republik of Santa Monica" for nothing. But...

- great schools
- great weather (except maybe June gloom)
- a walkable town

I've lived here for 10 months now. Grand total of 2 parking tickets (one when I forgot street sweeping day, the other for an expired meter).

SM is a fking bad joke. I parked in a spot for 2 minutes to run in and drop something off...the spot was not clearly marked as being unavailable at that time. I took a cell photo of the sign which was pointing at a section in front of my vehicle ... $61 for 2 minutes. bastards.

Versailles, what a great place. I have not been there in a long time because of the bad traffic getting out that way.

I do a little bit on SM. Santa Monica, West Hollywood, same $hit, different days.

My wife and I were chased by a MM in her Jeep in South Pasadena for about 7-8 blocks just to get at our lic place. She finally cut us off and yelled at us that we will get it in the mail. Freaking BS. My wife complained but got nowhere.

In West Hollywood, I got tickets for parking 20 inches from the curb ( they measure you and take a photo of it). On Santa Monica Bllvd, I have gotten them for not turning the wheel toward the curb on the slightly down grade section. Find my a section of Santa Monica Blvd in W hollywood that will cause a vehicle to roll.

civil disobedience is the answer, I dream of having a pos truck that doesn't have plates on it to knock over the poles.

I also feel that just like our fathers got together for prop 13, that WE need to get it on the ballot that all tickets must be based on the average wage of a California resident ant that they cannot add court cost or other fees.

So if the average Californian makes $25 an hour that a parking ticket can't cost greater than a hours wage,

A speeding ticket for 10 miles an hour can't be more than 3 hours wage etc.

If the economy goes up and the wages go up, well the fines go up by that amount.

$61 for a parking ticket is not a fair fine in my book, it's extortion.

Talk about extortion. A while ago, I got a cited for having no tickets but we were just watching the gold line ( I think its the gold line)train go by with my little kids on a Sunday afternoon. We were never on the train. Well, I ripped him a new on in court and was all smiles as I walked out but only ot find out that I had to pay a handeling fee of 25 bucks at the freaking window. Yeah, you win but you still have to pay.
