Question for HD Pelicans.

How many miles did you put on your brand new Harley before developing an oil leak?

I have over 10,000 on mine without a single drop, or problem of any kind.

My Porsche leaks though.

Should your question be in green, or is this the typical Pelican bash HD thread? If so, way to be original.

Brian, for a motorcyclist, your skin is pretty thin. You enjoy your bike. What do you care what others think about the Motor Company?

When the slide sticks wide open on the Amal carb on my Triumph, I wish I only had an oil leak.

try having the gasket at the base of the jugs blow out. that is a good time.

the best thing i ever did was replace the amals with mikuni's.

I didn't mean to start an HD bash thread, i was just curious.
I have a 1998 HD with 160k miles on it and it only has a couple leaks. The reason I posed the question is because I was just wonder if HD had fixed their leak issues.

Holy balls. You put 160K on your bike?

I'm impressed.

LOL, BSiple, I put 300k on my Honda V45 Magna (750cc). I bought that bike brand new in 1983 and rode it all over the place. In 300K miles, i never had the topend opened, replaced the clutch once and went through a whole bunch of tires.

A lot of bike owners I know (and read about on here) tend to switch, sell their bikes pretty often. To have put almost a half million miles on two bikes is impressive in my book.

But they were parts of the highest British quality...

How many miles on a new HD B4 it leaks? For me, was about 15 on my '73 model.......That thing almost killed me several times due to parts falling off in the next few yrs...Could tell stories here all day about the old HD's.......At a certain point, my skills were greater than that of the HD. HD is great for putting from one tavern to the next, but not for any serious riding IMO......

Have over 1/2 million miles on m/c's and never rode another HD after the '73.......

My 03 Road King is the best bike I have ever owned. I have 37000 on it now and still no leaks. I have not been able to ride much since the baby was born.

I haven't started my shovelhead yet but the tranny's already leaking. I guess we'll find out about the motor the first time I put oil in it.
