D-Day, anyone have living relatives that were there

My Great uncle was there on D-Day plus 1, he helped plan the Canadian Forces part of that day, pic's of him with Churchill and Eisenhower, cool history.
All that took part changed this world, my uncle is 97 and not in good health, just got off the phone and thanked him for his contribution.

my grandfather piloted one of the boats at a different landing site, and it was hot hot hot. he was an officer and the designated pilot fell extremely ill, so he officered-up and did it. his memoirs state that it was just plain random who was killed, bullets and crap flying everywhere.

no, I had a neighbor who was up in a p47. I had a freinds dad that was on Iwo Jima.

Both of my garands that I own could have been there! and they came back from europe.

I could not have imagined the fear.

My relative who was there, Uncle Gordon, passed a couple of decades ago...

From time to time, I still chat with a guy who got there the night before...Sgt. Don Malarkey of Easy Co...
