made it about 15 seconds before I started tearing up. All of those were a BTDT moment for me. It's a feeling you never forget no matter how old you get.

Lordy Vinny...you got me. I was single when I was in the Navy in Desert Storm and Restore Hope and I felt that way seeing my Mom and Dad and my brother but now that I have children I can't imagine what it would be like to be away from my wife and my kids.

That's the resaon I decided to retire. Only deployed once after kids were old enough and was looking at two 7 month deployments in the over a 2 year period if I stayed active.

Not watching that. I'll be crying like a baby.

God bless them for the service they do, and god bless their families and give them strength.

It's a well known feeling to many of us and a feeling that you never forget.
How many know the feeling of coming home from school and seeing the base commander and the base chaplain waiting at your front door? That too is a feeling you never forget.

It took me a second to realize that the LTC hugging his son out at the ball field is a good friend of mine.

I didn't make it past one minute and I've never been in that situation.

All I can say is thank you to all who have served this great country in time of peace and war, thank you for sacrificing so much to keep us safe and protect our way of life.
God bless.

I'll never forget the chaplain stopping in the recruiting office to get directions to the house of a good friend whom I recruited. That was the day I decided that one enlistment was enough. That took way more of a toll on me than anything else the Army threw my way.
