Duke boys new toy
This is what the Duke boys get up to when they get control of the garage. (Guess they got tire of working on those sporty cars) They need more time in the towtruck.

My neighbor (Ray Staunkas) built the originals, he said most of the ones you see in the show are regular road cars with pvc pipe painted black. And the "jump cars" were full out round tube chassis' with some massive hp.

Saw a ton of General Lees back in 2002 at the Dukesfest in Sperryville VA. It was held at Cooters garage and was one of the most interesting events I have ever attended. We were holding a FF draft nearby and went over Sat moring to kill some time.
I met Cooter (Ben Jones) as he was running for Congress at the time--plenty of "Cooter for Congress" bumper stickers and pins handed out. And it was his establishment The Sheriff from Chickasaw County was there, as was the fat deputy--(not Enos or Roscoe)signing autographs. Catherine Bach was coming at some point and the line for her tent area was about a hundred yards long(she wasn't even there yet) and people were holding decklids, dashcaps, etc. from their Lee clones to get signed. There was a Dixie Jeep clone, several police car clones, a yellow Roadrunner like Daisy had in the pilot episode, and about a dozen or so cloned Lees. Some were sweet, some weren't even the right year--why go through the trouble of making a clone out of a '70 ? The "original" Lee was there--it was completely smashed and was painted green as it was used in some race car episode--there were all kinds of photos showing where the current owners had hauled it out of the woods somewhere. There was a John Schneider look-alike Plenty of vendors selling "Lee" replica kits--decals, wheels, pushbar, etc. However, the best part was one of the stunt drivers was there signing autogrpahs--he did the opening credits jump and doubled John Schneider--it was about 10 AM and he was LOADED--smelled like liquor, slurring his words, etc.. All in all it was a great way to kill a few hours.

A young blues guitarist who lives up the road from us is a pretty good gearhead and had a pretty good "take-off" of the car built, they call it the "Extreme Lee"...Here's a link to some pics of it.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd :: Xtreme Lee

Nothing says performance like 4-wheel drum brakes and a leaf-spring rear suspension with a live axle.

Correct, but they will pass you again when you can't slow down in time for corners...

We're still fine tunin' things and hookin' things up. Having trouble finding a fitted upper rad hose. It's got a nice new aluminum rad and that flex hose looks awful but we'll get there. As for the drums versus discs, it keeps the boys from slowing down too much on the gully jumps and such (when they chicken out)

Yeah, you could tell when he was still in High School that he was going to be good. His Dad was a PD for a local FM station and Kenny was always at all the local concerts. I can still remember seeing him wide-eyed listening to SRV at a small local outdoor concert. He finally got his head screwed on right and is doing well.

Heres a few more General Lee pics. Thanks for looking and your favorable comments are greatly appreciated. Now we'd like to find a car cpver like the Nascar boys use during rain delays and pre-race festivities . Who makes those, they are great??

He closed that down a couple of years ago to focus on Congress and the Cooer's garage in Gatlinburg. It's about 45 min from my house, I used to pass by on the way to Skyline drive. They had live bluegrass music there on weekends and quite a draw as its on 211, the main road into/out of the park. Always a lot of motorcycles and folks taking a rest from coming down the twisty mountain. I can't recall if they building is vacant now or its just another random "mountain crafts and honey" type of shop they have a lot of there in that area.

RB's rock. I'd like to find one near the middle, a 413. Stroke is the same for all the RB's, including the 383, which very few know about. The 383 stroker motor that chevy guys are running is the exact same displacement and bore as the RB 383.
I love it, man. Very nice.

Is this the hardware that fell off on the way to Cooters?
