RM Auction to Sell Rare Ferrari 250 TR at Monterey
RM Auctions just announced that they will offer a 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (Chassis # 0738 TR) at their annual Monterey auction in August.
RM sold a similar 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (Chassis # 0714 TR) at their Ferrari Leggenda auction in May, 2009 for $12,402,500, the world record for the most expensive car ever to be sold at auction. I thought some DJ in Britain paid something like 14M for a 1961 California Spyder last year....am I wrong?
Anyway I'd buy it but we're a little short this month. The 757 needs a redo and we're thinking of just scrapping it and getting a new BBJ. |

It should be interesting to see the outcome but it probably won't make the same money as the black 57.
What are these like to drive? Has anyone ever driven one? I would imagine they would be like tractors at lower speeds but coming to life as you press on. I always liked the gate shift on the old Ferraris. That lockout lever looks hand made. ![]()
