So, any bets on a rule change/clarification for next year?

The Raiders should have won that game when they recovered an obvious fumble which the refs overturned and handed back to the Pats.

Hmmm... Patriots a 2 1/2 point favorite, they win by three, questionable call(s)......

JR? Are you suggesting it's the bookies who really went wild? Okay, hint all you want about pro football being rigged, and yeah, it was a horrible call...that fumble turned into an incomplete pass. Okay maybe pro football & NASCAR are both rigged..maybe. PLEASE...just don't ever say that about WWF smackdown! We all need to believe in something, right?

I agree- first it looked like an incomplete pass, but he had decided not to pass, brought the ball down, then dropped it. It was a fantastic game regardless. Next year the Falcons go all the way! (lol)

It was the only way to get Gruden's face off the camera. I believe this guy gets more face time than the officials. The Sports headline in our local paper read Vinatieri's heroics save New England. But had a picture of Gruden's mug on it. Go figure. Go Pats!!

About the controversial call:

If you read the rule book, it states once you begin the forward pass motion, and the ball gets knocked out, it's an incomplete pass UNLESS you have control of the ball and it's tucked.

If you look closely at the replay, when the ball was knocked out, Brady's right hand was moving forward and his left hand was patting the ball, he was in the process of getting control of the ball but the ball was not clearly tucked and in control....therefore we have the incomplete pass.

(That's my subjective opinion. This opinion and the fact I am a Pats fan is entirely coincidental)

In 1976, the Pats got a call against them that was controversial too (for those that remember).

Now the Raiders have something to ponder the next 25 years.

Anyway, the Pats move on to the Championship game, hopefully in Foxboro.

Go Pats!

Judgement call colored by who you are rooting for.....

IMHO he had control and it was a fumble....ALSO, if it is not 100% clear the call on the filed STANDS.....just another game won by the refs....

I was a football ref for ten years and I know that it hard to call....but that one sucked.
