Luckily they crashed shortly after and were arrested.

How long would it take to get to 100 in a Focus with 4 passengers? Lucky they were not in a Suburban, would have probably killed more people.

It appears to be holding down the flag.

Crazy question maybe but where do you think the flag came from? I've never seen a flag covering a body at an accident scene before. Who carries an American flag around for situations like this? The picture and the event itself is terrible but the latent reporter in me just wonders about things like this. (Three years of journalism school, no degree).

So let me get this straight... The CHP makes sure they've got a spare flag and shovel packed in their patrol cars just in case something like this happens?
