Tractors.

Xpost from RL

A thing of beauty is a joy forever, I never had seen a Hürlimann D100 till yesterday.
I went over to a friend who lives a few streets from home for a couple of beers in the afternoon. We started talking about his the tractor he just restored (an MB Trac which is worth a thread on its own) when he mentions that part his brother's tractor collection sits in a barn a few 100 meters away.
Within the next 5 minutes we stood in something I can only describe as Ali-Baba's cave. Some 15 vintage tractors in various conditions, from heaps of rust to concours. Only a small part of a collection of over 50 (fifty) tractors. Incredible.
One specific modell caught my eye, a Hürlimann D100. Together with another Hürlimann they simply blew me away.
Needless to say I want one presto.

 WOW!! I've never heard of Hurlimann. I guess they were never imported to the US, but damn...what a fine looking piece of equipment. Looks like an 80 hp tractor scaled down to 50 hp size. Look at the size of the transmission and lift housing!!! Ridiculously cool.

That thing makes a Deere John 820 look plum rudimentary!

Very cool indeed!! (except if one is driving in front of you and you cannot pass... :D)

I wouldn't say no to an JD 820 :) but I agree that this Hurlimann is something else. They see to be very rare here too, only found one for sale (no price quote)

Here's the Mercedes Benz Trac which my friend completely restored, based on a Unimog chassis. unique and terribly impressive.

Nice tractors.
Have you ever heard of Bungartz&Peschke?
I've got one with a VW motor in it.

I looked it up, nice looking and good garden size too.

Really beautiful tractors. I've developed an appreciation for tractors after buying two - a small and a medium size. Even though they are only older Kubotas, I love em. Restoring tractors would be fun.

Bungartz made some neat little tractors. Always wanted one with a VW, but the only one I've come across that was for sale had a Sachs diesel.

This thread got me motivated.
I haven't had it running in 4-5 years and sadly it's been outside and is in need of alot of attention.
So yesterday i tried turning the motor over (by hand) but it was bound up.
After pulling the plugs and squirting some PB blaster in i got it to turn over
but it goes half way around and stops. Same thing in the other direction.
It's not valve contact as they are all freed up. Almost feels like the fly wheel is hitting something. Guess i'll have to split it apart and see whats up.

Shouldn't take long mowing the back 40 with that.

My GF was showing me pictures of her Norwegian grandparents in the Old Country recently, and I recognized grampa's Porsche tractor. She said he had several tractors, over the years, but the Porsche was his favorite. It must have had the Turbo Tie Rod kit.

I bought a book at a garage sale 2 weeks ago for a buck. It was by our own Randy Leffingwell who has 4 Porsche books to his credit.

Books | Tractors

Great book.

Very cool tractors. I was in Vermont a few weeks ago admiring an awesome car collection. Well the gentleman also had tractors. This one caught my eye...

Good looking Olivers in the back. My grandparents always had Olivers to till the orange groves. I haven't seen one since I was a kid. Brings back memories...

He had more Olivers in another part of the barn. Still uses one today for a few fields. The tractors were as impressive as the cars for sure.

Keep those pictures coming please. I talked to a colleague this morning who wants to let go of his Fordson Super Major. Anybody has something to add on this specific model?
in other news I learned that there's a guy in the next village who has 50 (fifty) Porsche tractors, I have the address, need to check it out myself;
