Disc Golf!

Anyone play? My friend got me into it about a month ago and boy is it fun! It definately takes a lot of practice to be decent but once you get the basics and can control the different types of discs, its super fun. I have 2 courses within 15 minutes of me, a 9 hole and an 18 hole course up at Killington. Both are woods courses so it basically like hiking, but you get to throw things. Great exercise and they encourage packing a few beers in your bag. We've met a lot of cool dudes on the courses who gave us some tips. Best of all its cheap to play. Most courses are free and the discs are cheap to buy. If you have a course near you, check it out. Very addicting.

I took a year off from work and disc golf was my daily activity! Innova Valkyrie was my favorite driver. It's funny how quickly you build a disc collection.

It's so much fun. Honestly, once you learn it, it's one of the easiest games. It's a great way to get out, do some walking, and have some fun. I played regular golf for years (and still occasionally do) but it's nice going to a FREE course, spending the afternoon, and playing a few rounds.

Yep...you meet some interesting/fun people out there. Kind of a stoner activity, but I've met some fun dudes to play with

I was practicing with a friends Valkyrie last night. If I remember right, it acts like my Leopard which used to curve left now banks hard right every time. I hate it. They say they "break in" and fly differently but I don't know how thats possible. It could be that I'm throwing it harder with more spin and that changed it flight characteristics. I used an old Discraft XL that my friend found and that flys straight as an arrow. Also tried an Innova Orc which curves HARD left but it got me out of a tricky area today. For the shorter throws, my Innova Shark is pretty predictable. I have 3 discs now but I need more.

haha...nice. I think I have about 45 discs in my bags. I've played with different Valkyries, but the only one that works as an excellent driver is my translucent green one.

do you drive backhanded, or like you're throwing a discus?

I used to play all the time. I lived 1/2 mile from a nice park that had a course. A buddy at work was always ready to play. We played in temperatures from 10 degrees to 110 degrees. I even got one "hole in one" once. It's a inexpensive sport compaired to cars, boats, airplanes or golf.
