Good Samaritans Still Exist
Ran out of gas on the bike today. Never bothered to fix the low fuel light, thought I had at least another 20 miles (2 miles to gas station) when I coasted to a stop on the side of the highway. Horsing around too much I guess.
Walked 30 feet before a minivan pulls over. 20 year old kid asks if I need help, tell him I'm just walking to get gas. He says jump in. Drives to gas station, he empties out a new gallon jug of tea, we go to clean it out, gas station attendant says no can do, against the law. I say thanks anyway and try to send him on his way, I'll walk up another mile to a hardware store and get a proper container. He says lets go. We drive over to his friend's house and get a 2 gallon jug, back to the gas station to fill up, and then back to the bike which starts right up. About an hour out of his day. Wouldn't let me fill his minivan when getting gas but I did get his information. What should I send him? |
A twenty year old with lots of spare time, and doesn't need gas for his car......maybe a hooker?
|
That's a good thought. He's a DJ though. We talked a little about girls of his generation. He does not need a hooker!

A gift card to a local store, coffee house, etc. would be my choice. $20.00 would be fair, I think.
|
It's people like that that keep me from giving up on humanity. Probably the best thing you can do, is pay it forward.

Gift card to a restaurant?
I was pulling into the hood last summer and there was a beautiful 65-67 convertible Vette that had just barely made it into the hood. I pulled over and asked if he needed a hand. Turns out he was out of gas. Went home (1/4 mile), got the gas and gave him a few gallons. He was headed to a first Thursday of the month local get together of exotic/muscle/etc. cars. Told him us car guys had to watch out for each other. |
Subscription to Playboy :D

If he's a dj I'd say just get him a visa gift card, he can spend it on beer, food, condoms (not the ones with teeth LOL), or whatever LOL
|
I've run my bike out of gas twice. Pushed it across the street to the gas station the first time, parking lot at work the 2nd. AAA came in handy last week. I agree, Visa gift card. I need to quit doing that :-)

20 years old? He's a bottomless pit.
Get him a gift card to some place to eat. Come to think of it, I'm 52 and I'm a bottomless pit. |
I talked to Chris today and he filled me in. Go with the 99 gift certificate

How about a custom T shirt? I know you have the facilities and the skills, sorry, madd skilz yo.
Could even put his name on it somehow, racing scene with a billboard that has his name on it, or maybe Haywood Jablowme Racing(or whatever his name is) on a 917 or something. |
good kids. driving a mini van? a very good kid.
i like the t-shirt idea. a link to the mini van thread wouldnt hurt either:) |
he'd prob appreciate a dime bag more than a gift card hehe.

Gift card Shaun. Or I could send him........you know it's coming........all together now.... CHILI! |
If he was 21 I would say a quality case of beer, so a gift card to a restaurant should be appropriate.
