Cayenne Forum?
 

Yeah, yeah I know. I never thought that I would consider this car. I have had several 930s, Boxster and a 993 C4S. Still have a 930 in renovation upgrade mode. However just bought a 2010 GTS for my wife and this car drives fantastic. She turned in her leased Range Rover (she has been driving Range Rovers for 10 years) and test drove this one and loved it.

Anyway - is there a forum for the Cayenne here? If there is I must have had a brain pause and missed it. I really like this forum - good people and good info, or is the Cayenne not really a Porsche?

My wife's quote before the car: "they make great sport cars, not SUVs. Porsche needs to make up its mind,"

Now after the car: "This is the most exciting, fun car that I have ever owned."

Don't know why people get their feathers ruffled when it comes to Porsche building something other than a 2-seater.

BMW does it and the guys on the BMW boards just ignore it.

I've been seriously thinking about selling the Silverado and buying an '08 Cayenne S (or GTS). I don't carry enough day to day to put up with the crappy feel of a truck. I figure with a little trailer I can make lumber runs from Home Depot and still tow the 930 on the big trailer when needed.

I did a search on Rennlist a while back and couldn't find discusion of holding capacity so: Can you fit much in the back? With the rear seats down, how long a piece of lumber will it hold?

I really didn't want to like the pepperwagon. ...but now I have one.

I needed a comfortable car for long boring commutes on concrete slabs. Damn if that Cayenne doesn't deliver in every way. Clearly the Porsche engineers put their talents to work on something other than a go-cart. ...with stunning results.

For example; I've made a few Seattle/LA, LA/Seattle road trips in the Cayenne. At destination, I feel no worse for wear than a trip to the grocery store. By contrast, a couple weeks ago I helped a friend drive up in a LandRover disco -- NOT good arrival. My body ached and was mentally punchy. ...actually got that way ~ 60% thru the trip.

Porsche, there is no substitute.

As to cargo space... no, it's not a P/U or van. Most do have the roof racks. Also the ski pocket. Never used mine for lumber.
