Not An Exotic

Thought this was an interesting tid-bit.

I received my corporate AMEX card today. So I was browsing through the literature it came with to see what the benefits were. If you use the card to rent a car it will provide insurance for you automatically without having to purchase it from the rental car company.

However, if you are renting an exotic car you have to call first for approval. Then they list the exotics. Well Porsche was not one of the cars listed. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus???, etc.

Guess I'm renting a turbo on my next company trip!

Pininfarina makes cars?? I've only heard of them as a body designer.

I don't think Porsche has ever been considered to be in the exotic category.

If you go to Vegas, you can pretty much rent whatever you want. I rented a Dodge Viper once (back in 1998).

911 Turbo, Countach, F40. Pretty much the holy trinity of "exotics" when I was a teenager.

Agreed. Although, I think it was the Testarosa...not the F40 for me back in the 80's.

I bought a $6 videotape at the grocery store when I was little....watched the bejesus out of it. It was called "Supercar Showdown." ...complete with cheesy synth music. It was filmed in Adelanto, Ca in the mid 80's. The cars featured:

Porsche 930S
Ferrari Testarossa
Lamborghini Countach

The same production company created a video called "Porsche Legends" Ultra-cheesy, but cool when I was 10 years old
