A couple times he actually landed next to the wreck of his victory and took the dead pilot's wallet or picture back to base with him.

Was a spectacular pilot, never wounded.

He later tried to be the first to cross the Atlantic but the plane crashed on takeoff. Lived to a ripe old age.

I read his book and he says 137 Died in 49.

So what did Harman and Francis Garbreski (US P47 Ace) have in common??

When you are good your good...

I think the commonality is that they were both the high scorers in their paticular service in the ETO..Gabby had 31..Johnson 28

Bong and McGuire both scored more in the PTO..

The Krauts flew till they dropped...and had far more opportunity on the Eastern front to run up the score.

You don't know whether to sing Happy Birthday or a Christmas Carol. I know it happens all the time.

Seems when I was a kid I would get one present that combined both days...Also Dad's favorite was, "I buy you a present after Christmas when they have the sales."

I am just a few days older than a year than you are...

If you are so curious

MAKE THE POST A POLL

and use ranges of ages and establish a count.

Jan 53, just turned 57 and the body is telling me about it every time I move! :)

Well, I suddenly don't feel so bad being right in between you two.

July 53. I don't feel as old as Joe, but still don't feel as young as Kev!

Joeaksa 06-27-2010 05:17 AM

Michael, it has something to do with the number of miles we have covered!

This morning after perhaps one too many margarita, am not feeling young at all. Hopefully watching the formula one race in a couple of hours will help!
