Credit Card CHARGEBACKS: Need advice /experience
Sold Porsche parts to a guy in Australia - $853.
USPS tracking shows all the way to Australia, ending in *4* delivery attempts in the same day, then nothing. Guy says he didn't get the goods. Am I truly on the hook for the money? He's initiated a chargeback, just a killer. Wanted it shipped "just like last time" - which was via USPS and no insurance. Have all e-mails stating the above, as well as the tracking from the USPS Who has experience with a situation the same or nearly the same as this? |
What's the buyer's position on this? Does he want the parts still? If not, sounds like a tough situation. Anyway, he will have to do some explaining to the CC company to get the charge back completed, I bought a couple of tee shirts from a boutique company that went out of business. After a short investigation that the shirts weren't sent, I got my credit.
It's not automatic. |
Chargebacks are an every day occurrence for merchants.
What the CC provider is looking for is documented proof of action. If you have USPS proof of delivery simply respond with it and you should be good. |
Yeah but it wasn't delivered. Attempted delivery 4 times in 1 day - but then that is it.

I think you've fulfilled your end. |

If not delivered and not returned to you then action is going after the last person/shipper in possession and filing insurance claim. If truly lost you need to work with buyer, not against them. |
Item is MIA.
Buyer is working against conventional human behavior 110% & is absolutely the biggest jerk you could imagine. "Aussie post has NOTHING to do with this, it's your postal system that is at fault" Uh-huh. |

Personally I wouldn't trust anyone from Australia. Bunch of convicts.

This is why we won't ship USPS overseas. They are cheap but that comes at a cost. Things tended to dissapear. UPS doesn't seem to have that issue.
In some cases of items less than $50 I will, but require the customer to sign a waiver that we are not responsible for the shipment if it is lost as we have no control over it and if 'lost' by USPS are rarely 'found.' |
