Chase bank refi scam
Gotta love this. If you refi your current mtg w/ Chase they will apply your escrow balance to old loan principle.
Nice way to bump fees on the new loan unless you're willing to fund your escrow account double what is needed for a year! And likely also has a cash flow benefit for them. Bunch of asshats. Called the tax dept there and said 'Please pay my r/e taxes now.' as my escrow has about $5k in it to cover these which are billed 7/1 and due 7/31 for max discount. Guess what they told me....'No'. Can you effing believe that?! My damned money is in that account, not theirs!

Chase was refusing to do an escrow analysis for me....took a ton of phone calls to get them to do it. I was paying $500 a month EXTRA into escrow. They finally did the analysis, sent me a check for the surplus, and then lowered my monthly payment. Talk about a headache to get done.

I did an escrow analysis FOR THEM and they claimed not to get it. Ignored it completely.
Pretty clear that escrow funding and interest income on it are not going to become transparent until Congress legislates it. Congress, IIRC, has refused to do so in the past.

THEY make money on YOUR money while it is in THEIR accounts! Why should they work to save you money when that would cost them interest? YOU make absolutely ZERO sense!
If you do not keep on them and force the issue, there is absolutely no reason for them to act. Read the rules and regulations around your escrow. Are you required to have an escrow through them? Can you not complete your own escrow and pay into your own account? I do not know the rules in Maryland...

I have a WAMU Checking Acct which is now Chase...I have had that checking acct for more than 20 years..I am about ready to pull the plug on them...Chase is doing me no favors...

I refuse to have a mortgage company have an escrow account. If I pay my taxes and insurance, I know they are paid on time.
After all, it's more important to me than it is to them..... |
