I'll be in Austin, TX next Tues & Weds. Dinner or Drinks Anyone?

Staying at a Marriott Residence Inn, there for one of my shows that will be starting up soon.

Anyone up for drinks or dinner either night? SmileWavy

3 hours too far away....:(

jjone20 07-02-2010 06:14 AM

Long way from Tulsa, otherwise I'd be happy to. Maybe check out the F1 site and report back? Now, where was that?

Joeaksa 07-02-2010 07:08 AM

You guys boycotting Arizona still? :)

Lot of cool places to go on 6th St. You should see if the bats are still coming out from under the Congress St bridge. There are a few places right on the river that have a decent view. There is a statue of Stevie Ray Vaughn by the river, opposite side as the State Capitol. Pretty cool building that is, highly recommend you checking it out.

Celis Brewery tour is pretty good too, or I thought it was. You can actually go in the Tower where the sniper shot all those people now, Charles Whitman, I believe a former Marine.

favorite city in texas...went to visit a girl there once and stayed for 1.5 years. she was that worth it, until the stalker tendencies reared their ugly heads..

i used to eat a great chicken fried steak at Hyde bar/grill. i wonder if it is still there? what about Chuy's?

red-beard 07-02-2010 12:58 PM

There are lots of Chuy's...

red-beard 07-02-2010 01:09 PM

We had the Rick Lee get together at a Chuy's in Houston.

Hugh R 07-02-2010 01:45 PM

Love Chuy's, one about a mile from me. Thanks for the tips.

Gonna check out the residential scene a bit for when I retire. No state income tax.

I'm around, Hugh. Would be happy to buy you a few drinks and good dinner spots. PM me. Jack

Hugh R 07-02-2010 06:25 PM

Cool. I'm available either Tuesday or Wednesday night. I arrive at around 6 PM on Tuesday. I'll shoot you a PM with my cell.

mattdavis11 07-02-2010 07:23 PM

Hugh, I have no idea what next week holds, but I'm not far away. 4 miles max. You're in a good location to travel to look at property. Take 290/71 west and choose at the split in Oak Hill which is less traveled. Spanish Oaks is a decent community. Lots of nice property off of FM150, and FM 967 if you go further south. Twisty roads too.

Hugh R 07-02-2010 07:30 PM

Hey Matt thanks, if you can meet that would be sweet. I can do Tuesday or Wednesday night, whatever works best.

mattdavis11 07-03-2010 05:30 AM

If you have some free time during the day, it probably shouldn't take more than a phone call to arrange a dome tour at the capitol, if DPS still allows. It's been about 10 years since I last went up, but it's something most are never going to see. Being in the film industry, I'm sure Texas would be happy to accommodate you and several guests.

When the world wakes up, I'll check to see if it's possible.

holtjv 07-03-2010 06:29 AM

Got your PM, thanks.

Let's plan on tuesday night--this also leaves Wed open if you want to do something then.

I pm'd you my cell--why don't you give me a call when you land.

Matt, you in? I'll try to get a couple other birds to join. Jack

mattdavis11 07-03-2010 07:08 AM

It's A/C season, who knows what the future holds. HFO1234yf is a given.

If you want a bird, maybe I could call John at F5 performance in Dripping Springs. David Moore would be a welcomed guest, and the guy at TPWS could tag along.

holtjv 07-03-2010 07:39 AM

got hold of jamie novak--looks like he's in. J

mattdavis11 07-04-2010 05:36 AM

Cool, I wonder how Jaime's race car is coming along. 914 with a WRX motor and trans in the front, how cool is that? I can be reached at (512) nine twenty three, cero, cero, ocho 9.

Hugh R 07-05-2010 02:09 PM

Thanks guys, I land at about 4:20 PM on Tuesday and it turns out I'm staying at a Wyndham on IH35. I would imagine that I'll be checked in by around 5:30 PM.

Where do we want to meet? I don't know Austin at all.
