4th of July Flag complaints
Would you complain about either of these flags?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1278270286.jpg or the Texas Gonzales flag http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1278270340.jpg |
I'm only going to complain if I run out of cool drinks. It's flirting with 100 degrees here. Happy 4th of July!

Not sure about those flags, but I'll tell you what really bothers me today.
We drove from our place (beach side north west of LAX) to Venice beach to a buddy's place on the beach to celebrate America's Birthday. Its a 5 mile drive at most. During that drive we saw no less then 5 cars flying Mexican flags on their cars and numerous Mexican flag wavers walking the streets on America's Birthday no less!!! Additionally there was a parade where again very few American flags were being flown, like it's 'offensive' to fly the stars and stripes, no shortage of the Mexican flag though?! This action/attitude just epitomizes the contempt, entitlement and arrogance of 'some' mexican nationals towards this country that caters to them, pays them very well (mostly under the table) provides them free health care for the birthing of their babies, education etc. . You'd think they'd take this day and pay a little freaking respect to this country! Could you imagine a bunch of us flying American flags in the face of these peeps on May 5th? We'd be called racists, biggots and who knows what physical action would become us! WTF? Again, I'm not bunching all mexican americans in this group. We know and have dear friends that are mexican born, living and paying taxes in this country legally! It's this 'other' group of younger aged punks that flaunt their (as seen on stickers on back windows of their cars) 'brown pride' in the face of american citizens, legal mexican americans, and the other foriegn nationals living here legally! I guess it's time for me to move, cuz I just can't handle this BS much longer. End of rant..... Flame/flack jacket on :) |
Gadsden is this:

Amen. That's why we abandoned California (Northern Mexico). And we were born there! |
I've not seen the Texan one before, but the divided snake is a foundation to this country during the American Revolution if my memory serves right. Complain about flying them? No. But I think I would rather fly the regular red, white, and blue if I'm going to fly a flag...which I am.

I want a flag like this for May 5th:

WTF is up with that? |

I saw a Gadsden flag spray painted on an overpass on the way back from Chicago today...
|
Someone needs to spray paint a Gonzales flag somewhere in downtown Chicago. Maybe on City hall.

"come and take it" has been one of my favorites since i first read about it back in 1959

It's a coarse weave, painful when put to such a use, but flies just fine in the fresh winds in which it was concieved to fly. But today the winds blow ill and hot, fueled by the ignorant hot air of those who misunderstand what it stands for and attempt to misappropriate its use for their ignorant self benefit. That burns my ass also. Drinks are on me next time. When will you be in these environs? |
