how to have a happy 4th
Well, one way at least. Two pro bono gigs this morning/afternoon. The first at a nursing home in west LA, the second at the "Home for Heroes" rehab facility at the VA hospital. The comment that made the day, from a guy about my age who was outside with a walker: "I've been here four months and this is the best entertainment we've had - thanks." I thanked him for his service. He said he hoped to be out of there soon.
You do what you can - have a happy 4th and thanks to all those who made 2010 possible. http://nostatic.com/photos/4jul10-1.jpg http://nostatic.com/photos/4jul10-2.jpg http://nostatic.com/photos/4jul10-3.jpg |
Well done, Todd.

Thanks, but pales in comparison to the sacrifice of those in the facility and elsewhere. And these days I will gladly play most anywhere, so it is an easy way to try and "pay it forward." The 4th is one of the great opportunities for the nation to remember instead of just worry about hot dogs and fireworks. Would be nice if it happened more than a few holidays a year...

Way to go. 5 string bass, or is that you?

my recent purchase - 5 string Rob Allen fretless. A playable work of art...

We capped off our afternoon with a concert by STYX...Best live mix I've heard in the past 20 years, and the best I've heard Styx play since the late 70's. They even brought Chuck out to play a few tunes (and I thought he had died a few years back)...This current line-up is nothing short of fantastic.

Good for you...
Your guitar player looks like he is channeling Garcia... though I never saw Garcia with a collared shirt |
Good one, Todd.
