Amazing story

Why have I never heard of this guy? Must be old news in the PNW...

They're leapfrogging each other in Hollywood to lock down the rights to this one.

'Barefoot Bandit' Colton Harris-Moore arrested in Bahamas after two-year flight from justice - NYPOST.com

The comments below it are funny.

yeh - the kid seems like a movie secret agent, esp. splatting the plane down in a marsh

The kid's an idiot but I lay 50% of the blame squarely on his worthless mother:

Quote:
Harris-Moore's mother, Pam Kohler, has said that he had a troubled childhood. His first conviction, for possession of stolen property, came at age 12. Within a few months of turning 13, he had three more.

But Kohler also has publicly defended her son, saying the allegations against him are exaggerated. She has told the AP that she hoped he would flee to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the United States.

Some guy tried to steal our friend's boat in the Bahamas and couldn't get the engines started due to a hidden kill switch. Instead he/they stole another boat. If it is the same bastard, then I hope he has fun jail.

His mother is the enabler here. He is lucky that he wasn't caught, shot and buried long ago. He's nothing but a punk thief and has left a trail of destruction and heartache for many in the PNW. AND he should have to pay for all of this. What a PUNK! Now we get to watch the legal theater in primetime. Just great.

While I'm a firm believer in nurture and don't know the particulars of the moms involvement I think this kid is just a bad seed all together. Even if the mom did everything right I don't think it would have made much difference.

Friend from HS was one of 6 kids.

5 of them were good kids.

His older brother went to a very prestigious private Catholic HS and maintained a 4.0.

Guy was really bright but there was something not quite right with him.

He was a clepto of the highest order.

Would steal anything, anywhere at any time just for the hell of it.

I recall going over to the house one morning and "T" comes home with this **** eating grin on his face.

He had spent the entire night out at the local BMW/Saab dealer stealing every Blaupunkt out of every car on the lot.

You could never go anywhere with the guy. He'd be walking down the street and out of no where would smash in store windows and grab everything on display.

He'd steal a car to go a mile.

Kid was absolutely demented.

Had to stop hanging out with my buddy. He and his brother looked like twins even though they were 2 years apart in age. If you only knew them casually it was hard to tell them apart. Unfortunately my buddy would get mistaken for his brother all the time and people would come up to him on the street and just start beating on him.

Felt bad for the family.
