Komenda/Porsche Controvery - I never knew

Here a couple of interesting web sites I recently discovered discussing the great designer Erwin Komenda and his neglected-by-Porsche designs. I can't vouch for the authenticity, but they do make a good point. Also a good site on '64 901's.

Komenda

901

So did Butzi really steal his credits?

The author of that website says Komenda did all the designs, everyone else says otherwise.

I checked that website looking for some conclusive evidence but didn't see any. His word against theirs?
I still have an open mind about this but so far haven't seen anything to back up that claim.
Maybe it was all buried. Maybe.

It's pretty well known that Butzi did not design everything. He was head of design. Lots of people work on any given design, but if your name is on the car, you're gonna get credit.

Now, enough of the non factual stuff. If you search Komenda on this and other BBS's, you will find many references to Komenda. One problem here is that we have a user named Komenda fan. His name pops up more than the man hisself.

Or, there are countless articles on Komenda and Porsche. It appears that Komenda worked with 3 generations of Porsche, from father to grandson.

He was dead, to promote a corpse who's last name was not "Porsche" would make little marketing sense as a corpse has no future.

Thanks for the links.

Marconi was not the first to invent radio.

Alexander Graham Bell was not the first to invent the telephone.

The Wright brothers were not the first to fly (Gustave Whitehead).

Christopher Cockerell was not the first to invent the hovercraft.

History is written by the victors and their attorneys.
