Rooftop cargo box has a 12" crack - repairable?

Or is it headed for the scrap heap? Kind of a shame as I really only used it 4 times in the six years I owned it. I suppose I could've stored it in a more ideal location. Anyway, can it be repaired? It's a black plastic, kind of aerodynamic big box made by Yakima but sold under a few names.

Harbor Freight has a plastic welding kit for sale. Also if it's ABS plastic you can check with RV stores like campingworld.com. They make ABS patch kits for the water holding tanks.

Plastic weld "might" work. You could always rivet in an internal aluminum sheet metal patch to bridge the crack and seal it with black silicon.

+1. Use small nuts and bolts if you don't have a riveter. I repaired a 200 gallon water tank this way about 10 years ago when some jerk decided to poke a hole in the bottom. Still works fine.
