Ruf Auto Center

So I emailed RAC in the U.S. to get an idea of how much a front bumper was for a 993 because I loved the look, their response was somethiing like they are no longer affiliated with Ruf Germany and send my inquiry directly to them.

What's that all about?

Cheers

The RUF franchise left Dallas and went to someone in the northeast, I bleeve. RAC expanded their biz to work on other exotic brands as well as Porsche and focus less on the RUF stuff.

Looks like they moved to Michigan..

:confused:they still have their website up with inventory?

Interesting... That is twice RUF has done this. The first was with a dealer in CA. Now Hans and the guys got the stick.

In a down economy, I expect it may be hard to keep the doors open selling high-end goodies.

The Michigan guys have been the US Ruf franchise since March. It's been on the cards for some time (years) apparently and now the game is over - done deal.

Much whining on Rennlist about responsiveness (or lack thereof) of the Dallas location - and yes, they don't seem to have got around to updating their web site since March, they still have a "rufautocenter" eBay id - currently listing Bimmers, Mercs Fords and an Indian Chief - and these listings still have the "Authorized Ruf facility" text.

Called the MI folks on Friday for some bits. They answered the phone, chatted cars, generally a pleasure to deal with.

Don't forget that the location for the North America shop before Dallas was Canada.

Yeah, I went over there a few months ago and they had bought additional space to the right of the existing building to house the "RAC" end of the buisness, and had tons of used cars in the warehoouse space of every description.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my feeble typing attempt CA=Canada.

I haven't been over there in a while but it sounds like I need to stop in and see what is happening.
