Whats on your Bucket List?

Was on another site today and saw a neet spot that I have added to my bucket list. What's on your list? Here is mine, in no particular order, # 1 is what I found today

1 Gilmore Car & Barn Museum
2 Indy 500
3 Smithsonian Institute
4 Learn to play the banjo, probably never happen because I have no musical talent other than being an expert with the skin flute.
5 Get my gold mine up and running, long story but I have secured the property
6 Get permission to drill for my diamond mine, its in a restricted area but all it takes is money to get permission, saw it from the air and the kimberlite pipes are easy to spot if you know what to look for.
7 Finish my 71 E-type resto
8 Paint the inside of the garage

Hate to say it, but I have done everything on my bucket list...

One possible thing that would be to do is a cruise from Seattle to Anchorage...

Back in 2000, I flew to Seattle to meet my then gf where she had driven an old Isuzu trooper with 270K on the clock. We drove up to Bellingham, loaded the Trooper on the ferry up the inside passage. We got off at the end of the line and toured up thru Canada on the AlCan highway back over to AK on the Denali "highway" and then took a wandering tour back down to the Kenai peninsula, etc. Ultimately ended up back in Anchorage where we put a For Sale sign on the Izusu and sold it for $3K in 3 hours(hard to find a rust free old Trooper 4WD apparently) which essentially paid for our 4 week trip. We then flew back to Mississippi. It was a blast. Pretty damn cheap suprisingly. Way cheaper than a "real" cruise. I think our fair for the 2 of us including car and a berth for 3-4 days was less than 1500$.

One weird thing did happen. We were in the middle of nowhere stopped for lunch at an outpost when some bear hunters came in the restaurant. One guy asked who the Trooper from Mississippi belonged to? Turned out he waorked for a bank I represented at one time. Stranger than that, he had dated my gf's sister while he was in college. Small world.

Done that several times. If you have not tried it, its a lot of fun but usually not long term...

You know, I really should toss all those old T shirts...I mean, who'd want a Lemans '76 T shirt anyway?

You did not throw them in with the sale of the 911? :)

When you get tired of those old rags, please let your friends know!

pack a vehicle of some sort and leave for a year. PEI, Florida, California, Alaska then back home.

Drdogface 07-18-2010 01:36 PM

Drive to Homer Alaska. Just back from a cruise and it was, frankly, disappointing.

Done the Asian chick thing many times and I never got over wanting more so that's still on the list.

Love to drive a Porsche Turbo... should be able to get that one done.

3) Have the opportunity to drive an Indy car, F1, or IMSA type...what the heck, as long as I'm wishing,
4) Learn to fly a Helicopter, Pipers are pretty easy.
5) Learn the drums, re-dedicate myself to the piano
6) Own mountain land near a river for fishing

It's a start

Karl,

If you go to Vegas (maybe other tracks too) you can find the Andretti driving school. It's all a matter of money as usual.

KarlCarrera 07-18-2010 03:27 PM

Thanks Mark. I have checked into a few opportunities...your right, for what I want It's expensive.
Somehow I'm looking for that feeling I had on the go-carts 30+ years ago. But faster....:>)

Thanks

Drive a NASCAR at the Richard Petty driving experience and have the instructor tell me I should do this professionally.

Hot asian chics, Yup don't think I could get enough of that.

Make a few laps in an F1 car with Louis Hamiton and pass him on the inside.

Steal that diamond mine and make a fortune. So I can afford more asian chicks :)

pwd72s 07-19-2010 11:32 AM

In no particular order, here are undone items on my bucket list:

1. Ride my bike across the United States, southern route, then northern route back.
2. Hike PCT end to end.
3. Learn to play the guitar
4. Learn to sing without making the dogs howl
5. Go to a driving School (e.g. Barber, etc)
6. Take a drive-about in the US. Maybe a year, wander as I like.
7. A houseboat on the arm of a canyon in Lake Powell, in October with just my
family. I just might make this work this year...
8. Watch the space shuttle launch and return. Guess I might have to watch a
rocket instead on a one way trip.
9. Get way too close to tornado
10. Shoot a cannon. Not a gun, a freakin' CANNON!!!!
