Ruger .380 LCP accuracy
Shot this group today with Hydrashok .380 ACP out of my Crimson trace equipped LCP:
Slowfire, off hand, range 25 feet: ![]() Point of aim was the X. Unfortunately i jerked the pistol a little on the last couple shots and opened up the group, but still... IMO this is TREMENDOUS accuracy for a pocket pistol. 3 "X" ring hits, 4 "10" ring hits and and 1 "9" ring hit. My LCP: ![]() Last edited by m21sniper; 07-15-2010 at 08:12 PM.. |

The biggest complaint I've heard from the LCP is the recoil. So I am surprised the group is so large. W/ CR equpped and at 25' it looks like you're firing slightly before targetting. How fast were you shooting?

The recoil is really a non factor with that load. Very light shooting IMO. I just anticipation flinched a little on the last 2 shots, which really opened the group up and caused me to drop out of the 10 ring on the very last shot.
I need more practice. Last edited by m21sniper; 07-15-2010 at 06:08 PM.. |

Now mix it up with failure to stop's, two to the body one to the head.

There was actually a stoppage during the firing of that group. Had one failure to extract after the 5th round. Gun has less than 100rds through it though, it's not really broken in yet.
The Hydrashok's aren't my carry round, but i had some on stock, so i shot them. Head shots are easier than shooting for the X ring. Much bigger target. If you transposed my shot pattern onto the head, i'd have been 8 for 8. LOL... Last edited by m21sniper; 07-15-2010 at 08:11 PM.. |

Not a bad grouping. I have the same pistol and the long trigger pull does make it hard to get tight groups.

That's for sure. I was merely speaking about shooting at paper heads.

I have seen the same accuracy out of mine. It's pretty amazing from something so small with a rock hard trigger. One thing I did do is switch back to the stock magazine parts. The Impact guns extender proved to be unreliable. I was finding that the spring wouldn't have enough strength to push the follower up anymore and I would go dry with 2 rounds sitting halfway down in the mag not under any tension. Anyone else have this problem?

Of my 2 magazines, one works good with the Impact mag kit, one is total crap with it. You can buy Kel Tec P3AT Wolff magazine springs and they'll fit your LCP Mags. They add +15% spring tension, IIRC. I plan to get some myself eventually. I expect they'll fully fix that problem.
I actually like the trigger pull on my LCP, but it's possible i just have a "freak" with a better than average pull. One thing i don't like is the size of the activation button on the CT laser. I wish it was just a wee bit larger, and lower down the pistol frame. When slow firing with very slow, deliberate trigger squeezing, the laser tends to flicker on and off from intermittent pressure on the switch. A bigger switch would eliminate that. |

I am debating giving the LCP to my lady friend and getting the new LCR in 357!! I just don't know, choices....

I think the LCR is a bit larger than the LCP, but you are getting a far more potent round in .357 mag, even with the snub nose. Of course it's gonna kick like a fire-branded mule too. >:}
I would love to give my LCP "The treatment" as well, but like you i hesitate to spend that much on a pocket pistol. I still want 2 more mags and the +15% wolff mag springs to go along with them. |
