Donaldson Oil Filters

I just recently purchased an Ariens Zoom 42 zero-turn radius lawn mower and absolutely love it. It is powered by a 16.5 Briggs & Stratton INTEK engine with a pressurized lubrication system. I looked at Lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart for replacement B&S oil filters and the cheapest price I found was about $10 per filter.

During a discussion with my younger brother who, too, just purchased a new riding mower, he told me that he had bought Donaldson oil filters for his at a cost of $4.35 each. My younger brother has been a diesel machic for 20 years and the Donaldson filter choice was a no-brainer for him. I have never heard of Donaldson until my discussion with him. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge with Donaldson oil filters?

I don't know "Donaldson" but I can tell you the most effective way to get a new oil filter for a small engine is to take the old one off, go into ANY parts store, and hold it up against the automotive ones. I bought a $2.30 one to replace the one that Cub Cadet or Kawasaki wanted close to $20 for.

I've used them. Don't know where to rate them, though.
Never had a problem.

They make filters for airplane engines, heavy truck engines, and just about anything else.

They are here in MN. Couple of good friends are engineers there, and they do lots of R&D. Filters is all they do, and they are very good at it. Use em!

From the link mentioned in the above post...

Donaldsons with the synthetic media are where it's at, those are the black cans though (at least the P169071 is). At $10-$14 or so you can't go wrong.
FYI, Donaldson Synthetic Media filters are the same as Amsoil Synthetic Media Filters. Donaldson makes them for Amsoil's private label.
