Guitar Valuation Help
I have a couple of nice guitars that have been collecting dust in the closet for the last couple of years. Thinking of selling them, probably through consignment at a local music store. I don't have a current value-guide and wonder if perhaps someone could help me.
First one is a Jet-glo (black) Rickenbacker 360 six string. Model year is 2000. Has barely been used so I'd say condition is excellent. Has original case, Ric towel, etc. Second one is a Gibson ES-165 Herb Ellis signature jazz guitar from 1997. Condition is near perfect with very light lacquer checking in two small areas where it contacted the guitar stand. Other than that, it's excellent too with original case, etc. Just don't want to get a lowball pitch from the music store. I'm guessing the Ric is around $1500 and the Gibson just under $2k, but hope someone can help clarify. Thanks!

Rics have a rabid following but they are particular about certain models - I don't know the specifics. You can search the classifieds at thegearpage.net and might get some comps. Same with the ES-165. You might see if elderly instruments has some comparable guitars as well.
If I wasn't jonesing for another Rob Allen bass I'd buy the ES-165... |
