Help Identify my Grandfather's watch.

After reading the thread raving and ranting about Rolex watches and reading the wonderful stories behind some of the watches I decided to clean up and repair my late Grandfather's watch. He was a man of moderate means but did well raising his 7 children on a blue collar salary. This watch is a Timex Quartz and was well worn and non functioning when I got it. I took it apart today to replace the worn battery and clean the grit and grime off.

I know this watch is not the $5000 Rolex but it is special because it came from the man who kicked off my love for cars and MADE me change brake pads at age 8 on our car.

What vintage is this watch?

Is the symbol at the 12 'O clock position a company logo? My Grandfather worked for a construction company in Milwaukee back in the '50s or '60's and then for the utility company for Milwaukee until retirement. Could have this been a gift celebrating a employment milestone?

The band is a Don Juan Stainless Steel band which can still be purchased for about $25.

IIRC, that symbol at the 12 is one of the ways Timex indicated that it was quartz.

As far as vintage, I would guess sometime in the 60's... I'm sure there are watch message boards where you could get a more definite answer.

I think the symbol is a stylized "Q."

This one is a '77 -- "The Q-Timex was the first quartz watches made in America":

I would place it as 70s because of the quartz movement.
