Ads aren't for people who already buy, they are the ones who don't...yet. They don't care what you think.

No stink on me either.

The Old Spice thing about the towel on Tony Stewart or John Force is really stupid.

BMW campaign for their factory approved "pre-owned cars. Now that is honest advertising!

Yep. You either get it or you don't.

I think they're hilarious. The Bruce Campbell one too...

I thought the Bruce Campbell stuff was great, but the new campaign has boosted sales 107%.

The Old Spice ads are some of the most creative and effective ads, how uptight do you have to be to get offended by them?

URY914 10-09-2010 01:38 PM

I saw an ad today with Ray Lewis running down the football field. Didn't he have his girlfriend killed or something?

Reviving this thread because some results are available...

Between YouTube and Twitter, the "Old Spice Man" campaign was the fastest-growing and most popular interactive campaign in history with:

1.4 billion impressions

110 million video views (40 million in one week alone)

22,500 comments on YouTube and Twitter alone 180 videos were made

27% sales increase in month 1

55% sales increase in first 3 months

107% sales increase during July '10 (stats are of 3Q '10, and are the latest I could find)

That's why Old Spice Man is back Old Spice | Deodorant, Antiperspirant & Other Man Fresheners

To put this in perspective, we produce a daily automotive news show and have done for 3 weeks short of 4 years. We are at 105 million YouTube views, which is considered pretty damn good. So for Old Spice to have gotten the views it did, the campaign would have to be judged wildly impactful.

You guys know the commercials I'm talking about right?

Some of them may say just that in woman-speak - who knows? Guys like me are too dense to get it, so they have to be more blatant when sending the message to us. Check your man-card, you may be "sensitive." :D

My oldest son got some stetson for a birthday gift when he turned 18 I think. He would get up in the morning and take a whore bath in the stuff. We actually got him to tone it down a little by marinating in cologne one day and making sure we got close enough to him to make his eyes water.

I'm a Lagerfeld guy myself and that stuff is getting very difficult to find!

Research was done years ago (in the 80's) on how the smell of cologne and perfume can increase the blood flow to the 'neither-regions' of the male and female.

They actually put blood flow sensors on the penis and clitoris and had recipients smell various scents. Wouldn't ya know, Old Spice after shave scored the highest for the women and the smell of cinnamon scored the highest for men!

I blend my own, seems to keep the bugs away at least.

Yeah but they brought us soap on a rope!

I love that BMW pre-owned cars ad -

And the Old Spice commercials are funny - they may appeal to women more than men -

My favorite car commercial is this old E-Class commercial - too bad it was banned - it just reeked of Mercedes....

YouTube - Not in this weather! (Mercedes Benz Banned Commercial)

azasadny 02-04-2011 09:10 AM

Don't women buy more men's cologne and after shave than men? I thought that women bought this stuff for their man at holidays and birthdays, etc...

JavaBrewer 02-04-2011 10:11 AM

Along a similar vein I get a laugh out of this State Farm commercial
