What do you guys think of a Pelican "Craigslist"?

I have just been thinking -

Pelican is a great place for all of us to come and chat about all sorts of fascinating things. And Pelican has classifieds if you want to buy or sell a car or parts for your 911. But what about when you have some extra bits around your house and think a Pelican might like them, but they just don't fit the category of cars and car parts?

Wayne, could we start another section of the board that is just a giveaway or for sale section for "household" items? It seems you could do so pretty easily, and simply copy the rules from craigslist on what can and can't be sold.

I got this idea because I have a (nice, 3 year old) Lincoln SP-135T MIG welder that I want to sell, but I'd love for it to go to a pelican vs. some random craigslist person...

What do y'all think ?

Reasonable to ask about half price ? I was thinking $325 for it, for everything I have: the original kit, a 10lb (?) CO2/Argon tank, a very nice welder helmet, gloves, and a bunch of spare new tips, etc. It's in La Canada. Everything works properly, not used very much at all.

Seems like we are off to a roaring start!

News flash!

How about we just use Craigs List as is.

Bet that Wayne has enough to do right now without adding another area to his already overloaded BBS, especially one that does not make money for the company!

It would actually be for my mom, but I have a use for it too. She's out of town, but I sent a text... I'll keep ya posted.

They do sell a classifieds scripts for relatively cheap that Wayne could add to the forum... he could move the classifieds section over there and begin to charge for it... would at least allow the forums to contribute to the business model in financial respects.... he could set the pricing and keep it real cheap... and he could add different sections for non car related items... I could buy a rug from Tabby.... just saying......

Actually, I favor paid ads. But, the bookkeeping and transactions would really require more personnel. Not worth it, IMHO.

Hell, we've been pretty good at doing this informally, I'd think. Wasn't that long ago that Scott posted about his bicycle being stolen...I had an old bike I wasn't riding anymore, a price agreed on, and Scott has (had?) a serviceable replacement.
