POS cash registers

I have recently purchased to sets of cash registers for our restaurants, and they have been unable to get them programed.

They have been installed since Sept. 2007, and we still can not get reports for monthly sales, the CC scanners do not work and the darn things keep losing the time and date.

These are TEC registers that we paid $15K for each store, and they have already been paid for.

What can I do?

Dealer should have sent someone over within a week and if no luck then replace them. This is not customer service letting you sit for over a year in this situation.

The dealer has been over many times. He does not know how to program the darn things and he will not give me the programming manual. I do have the operators manual, but that is worthless.

And it is situations like this that Open Source pays off... at least if you had the source you could hire someone to fix it for you properly...

FWIW, there are a few OS POS apps on sourceforge.net

Tell him to either get it working in 2-3 days or refund your money plus interest. The maker of the register could send a rep to help you but after this long it sounds like you need to work with a dealer who services his product, not just sells the machine and walks away.

Joe this is the the 3rd set of registers that we have purchased from the same co. I really think that he does not know how to program them.

Here's the link to the owners manual. I would call Toshiba directly

Time to call the national rep for the product. Tell them to come with replacement units (upgraded ones) or get these working by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Toshiba needs to support their product and now. Its also the dealers fault for not calling his national rep for help with this. A year with no support is just not right.

Thanks Bob, but I have several copies of that manual.

I need the programming manual, that is only available to dealers.

Exactly.

They should know the level of service that their product is receiving from the local rep.

This is as bad for them as it is for you.

Far more people are willing to say negative things about a product than positive things.

The dealer just left, he said he fixed it. I bet not.

Never heard back from the national rep.

Send an email to the Toshiba rep in Japan.

Detail to them what has happened and that the local dealer has not been able to correct the problem. Advise them that the rep for the United States has not been in touch with you after repeated emails to them.

Wait for the phone to ring on Monday. If it does not call your lawyer and advise them to sue them for defective products and service.

Update

These crap registers are still a problem.

I have sent two registers in one location back to be fixed (new boards and new touch screens $1000 each) now I have had the third register sent off for over a month and TEC says they will no longer fix them.

I have a new service co. working on the registers, the other guy had a stroke and is no longer in business.

The other location is down to one register.

What the heck can you do about something this new that is this screwed up?
