Cindy doesn't like this pic

Because it shows that we got old...big deal. If you're lucky enough to keep breathing long enough, you get old. So, here we are... Who is the older gentleman grabbing my Wife?

None other than the real life Sgt. Don Malarkey...a member of easy company, "band of brothers". He's a good example of being lucky enough to keep breathing. This taken during the pool hall celebration of his 89th birthday...

Oh..how do you boys like my pool shooting "dork glasses"? The big lenses give me lens to peer through when down on the shot...

There was a recent thread here about celebrities known...I guess Don is the biggest celebrity I know, and few would recognize him on the street.

A walking legend. Tell him thank you for his service.

Tobra 08-01-2010 08:33 AM

That is the pool hall in Salem right?

Mr Malarkey has not changed much in the last 20 years if that is the guy I think it is

Leland Pate 08-01-2010 08:46 AM

Too cool. My dad has the same belt buckle.

speeder 08-01-2010 08:53 AM

I think that you all look fantastic, and not so old. If he's 89, that's amazing genes. He looks 20 years younger in that photo.

Your dad was a "screaming Eagle"? Wow...quite an outfit, Lee...

Tobra...yes, he's the guy you think he is... the real deal, as portrayed by an actor in "band of brothers". I feel honored to have met the man.

Believe me, he has "class"...

juanbenae 08-01-2010 10:01 AM

Joeaksa 08-01-2010 10:22 AM

Paul,

Aging is part of getting old. Getting old is a lot better than the option. Only thing is that no one ever tells you as a kid or young man that you will be going to a lot of funerals along the way and everyone of them gets more and more difficult to attend.

Please thank him for his service.

Paul, you guys look great. Aging very well indeed. And that is THE Sgt Malarkey! That is very cool. Give him a hearty handshake for me.

Dueller 08-01-2010 11:33 AM

You mean Jim Lebold? He still owns The Cue Ball...actually he owns the entire block. It's the rent from the other places that keeps the hall open these days.

Jim a heck of a nice guy..full of tales from that area of Salem...Jim & Don are good friends...Don even acknowleges Jim's help in his book: "Easy Company Soldier".

Yep, it's close to Willamette U..

T77911S 08-02-2010 06:39 AM

pic is fine. she has a nice smile.

Hard-Deck 08-02-2010 06:47 AM

great photo with the highest respect

thx

DARISC 08-02-2010 10:47 AM

The photo on the right is Malarkey taken in 2008 (according to Wikipedia anyway). In your photo he now looks young enough to be his son. What's this man's secret to aging that he's applied over the last two years?

Paul:

All of you guys look great. We should all look as good.

Maybe if you fix Cindy up with a nice Mustang, she will overlook the other stuff ;)

Like the others, please tell Mr Malarkey we do indeed thank him for his service.

RWebb 08-02-2010 12:27 PM

BTW - Paul - next time you drive down to do the old Mckenzie Pass hwy, stop off at the Mohawk General Store - they have pulled pork sandwiches on Fridays, deviled eggs all the time & a pool table off to the side.

Did it occur to you to compare the 2008 photo of him with the other guy in the picture posted here??

Come on...it's really not that complicated. But I'm sure that PWD appreciates your noting his age difference to the famous guy.

dennis in se pa 08-03-2010 12:31 PM

I don't understand something about dying. If Heaven is such a great place, then why are we so worried about going there. Shouldn't sooner be better?

D'oh :( I know - must have been in one of my simple states of mind. I figured it out after about two posts and was too embarassed to post a "D'oh". But now you've forced me into it. Thanks speeder. :D

Dennis,

Many of us are not the least bit concerned about our next step of the journey of life. Not afraid at all, but then I do know many people who are not the same way.
