Battery choices for my travel trailer
Anyone else running AGM type (Optima and others) deep cycle batteries in their RV ? How's it working out? Do they need a constant trickle in long term storage ?

I think all lead acids do better staying topped up and cool(except when charging).

Remember that AGM batteries need a different type of charger that works at a different voltage.

Just went down and tested my old Trojan golf cart batts. Had thought they were toast but seem to still be fine. Yeah, I know about the AGM chargers.

I've had a blue-top in my motorhome for about a year now. It's a 12 volt deep cycle vs. the twin 6 volts I had before (which shorted internally and literally blew apart on the road).
It seems to work fine and has held a charge over a month with no issues. During the winter I disconnect it and charge it once a month or so. Seems to have decent capacity thought I'd love twin ones but they were so damn expensive.

Trojan 6 volts are great! Big, heavy, and work well. That is what I used in my trailer. Why change?

Crown model 6 volt golf cart batteries here. Have about 40 of them for my solar setup. Lots of power but heavy as all get out.
