The XKE coupe is the vehicle that made me into a car guy (yeah, I think chicks are car "guys" despite our gender). An acquaintance had an E-type coupe in the barn covered under a green tarp. It was the slightly awkward 2+2 with a V-12, but that's a digress. I asked what it was and he pulled the tarp back. I had never seen anything so beautiful in my life as that white e-type. How could the nose be that long? That low? Each piece of brightwork flickered like a diamond on a beautiful woman. He lifted the bonnet and showed me the engine. That was the last straw. At exactly that moment, I became a car guy.

Imagine what the drive would be like, your fingers around the same wheel that your father surely loved, that long nose stretched toward the horizon and just the cockpit snugged around you like a time capsule - transporting you back to the day of gentleman racers and their fine machines.

It is unfortunate that this car must leave your family.

Your right of course, don't forget the SU fuel pump diaphragms. If you rebuild them let me know I have an SU book that I've scanned that tells you how to do it. Believe me YOU need the Book to adjust the fuel pumps so that they work. It's not complicated but you will NEVER figure out the correct adjustment which is easy. You rotate the diaphragm some much until X happens, then you energize the points and stick a paper match into the points (I'm not kidding) then do Y and rotate 2/3rds of a turn of the diaphragms and it works perfectly. Or something along that line. Let me know if you want me to email the PDF.

Great cars, but not that great. That's 50K car retail. And it needs to be sorted to go for retail.
