Best place for family to stay in Estes Park, CO?

Used to stay with a friend that had a condo, but that option is no longer available. I always thought the Ponderosa Lodge would be great for a family as it is right on Fall River and is somewhat out of town, but are there any better suggestions? I am not on a "Stanley Hotel" budget if you know what I mean.

Last year I stayed at the Holiday Inn for a conference. Was nice enough and they have a pool and games at the pool so your daughter should have some indoor entertainment.

Have fun.

I've stayed at a little place called Creekside Suites on Fall River, but always off season, so not sure about summer rates. Nice clean little place, closer to park entrance than town so quieter.

Why not the hotel from the Shining that's up on the hill? (don't know the name, sorry)
We've stayed in the condos near it and they were always a nice place, plus the Elk walk right up to your door.

Here's where we stay when we go there.
Rams Horn Village Resort - Estes Park Resort- Estes Park Hotel - Rocky Mountain National Park Lodging - Estes Park Colorado Lodging - Colorado RCI Gold Crown

He ruled that out inthe OP. Besides the Stanley doesn't have AC.

We just had a Porsche Breakfast Club drive from Denver to The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. The drive was fun, but the breakfast was mediocre, especially at the price.

The drive.

Filling the parking lot.

The Stanley.

The Stanley Hotel. It's home to a couple of Stanley Steamers.

I am right behind the silver targa. I don't know who stopped and shot the picture, but it is great.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it rocked! Hot tub, right on a nice river, reasonable rates, very close to the park entrance, and had a trail right into the park if you didn't feel like seeing anyone else on your way in. Ohh and there was a great resturant about 100 yards down the road.

The first year I stayed there the staff consisted of a few very young East European women. (Joe would have been in heaven) They weren't bad looking. I found out the were on a work exchange program for the summer.

Anyhow, we had a good time at the hotel bar since a group of us conference attendees took over the bar. There was a couple of musicians playing folksie covers of classic rock tunes in the bar. We took over the band too with some of us playing the instuments of the musicians and singing into the night. I think the two musicians played 3 or 4 songs the entire night and we did the rest. The musicians had a great time, and I recall on of them remarked that it was the most fun gig he'd ever had.
