So, if you're going to rear end a Mustang...
Perhaps it would be best if the owner/driver isn't an off duty cop? The following a cut & paste from the Bullitt Mustang board:
Got my hood resprayed for the TSB, and the dealer did a spectacular job. Just a couple buffing marks were coming out, so the bodyshop guy said wait a week to let the others start to surface, and he'll take the car and get them taken care of.
Well, Friday morning I was headed back to the body shop when I was sitting at a redlight. I see this 300c coming behind me with a woman driving, and I kinda wonder if she's gonna stop. Well she does that thing were she stops a few feet from my rear, and I just note what an idiot she is. Then not even 30 seconds later, I see the car coming closer in my rearview, and then BAM. Then as I'm still looking back, I see the idiot lean back up from leaning over the passenger side of the car with the "Oh-crap" look on her face. I get out of the car and walk to the rear and I see 2creases in the rear bumper left of the license plate. Then she gets out of her car and goes, "There's no damage." I tell her, "yea, there is," and I get on the phone with my agency's comm center. In the mean time another Deputy, who was on his way to court, stops by and sits there until the dispatched unit arrives. Then the dispatched unit arrives and I notice one of our unmarked traffic cars pull in behind him. The traffic guy takes the call and works the crash without knowing I'm a Deputy (The other two guys knew I was, but left before the investigation started). After taking my statement about the crash, the Traffic Deputy attempts to get the woman off the phone to get her statement. Without getting off her phone, she looks at him and says, "It didn't happen." Then she gets back on the phone with her insurance company, and starts telling them about how someone's trying to say she hit them when she didn't. Well, the creases on my bumper, match the ribs on her grille, so the traffic Deputy knows better and documents this fact. Then after he finishes his paperwork, he gets onto her about not telling him the truth, and she starts complaining about the fact that there were 3 Sheriff's Office cars on scene at one time (so much for us not being there when you need us ).
I just seriously could not believe a 42 year-old woman would act like a friggin child and deny doing something and avoid taking responsibility for her actions. I mean, I deal with people who lie to me and try to get out of things all the time, but never on a minor car crash.
Well I got to the body shop and the hood now looks amazing. Their estimate for the damage in the rear is $454, without knowing if anything's broken under the bumper. I called her insurance company, and they told me there is a 99.9% chance they will be paying for the damage, even though they had barely started looking into the crash. I just have to get with their adjuster this week, then make the arrangements with the Ford dealer.
Only 2 questions now:
1) Will this repair show on a Carfax? I don't mind disclosing this to a potential buyer because it's a minor repair. But I don't want some huge redflag on 0630's history because the plastic bumper had to be resprayed.
2) Will I be getting a 2011 Mustang V6 as the rental?
