Axle, axel. As already mentioned "duel axel trailor."

My wife's hot button:

"These ones" or Those ones" is never correct. It's simply "These" or "Those".

Someone once told me that you should not use the possessive noun for an inanimate object, as in "The car's got a V8". More correctly, you should state that "The car has a V8". The reason being is that the car is an inanimate object and it can't "possess" anything.

That rankles me also.
As rankling is "tiny little", as in "It's a tiny little house".

Incidentally these are the only two words in the English language that are both homonyms and antonyms.

There is no word that rhymes with "orange" either.

I'm full of useless information, as anyone who's been around here a while can attest to.

try rhyming purple and silver...

"This program has beeen prerecorded." WTF does "prerecorded" mean?

The dictionary says: To record (a television program, for example) at an earlier time for later presentation or use."

So...some TV exec says "OK, we're going to record this program at an earlier time."

"Earlier than what time?"

"Earlier than the time it's going to be aired, dumbass."

"So you're going to prerecord it, right?"

"You could say that."

"But why would you?"

"STFU!"

"Because the viewing public would be all confused by telling them "This is a recording?"

"GTF outta here! You're fired!"

"Well FU! I'm outta here!"
