Got my first ticket in 11 years LOL

Yep.....was driving home from miami in rental car with my boss.....he got tired and asked me to drive, no problem......
We were at a porsche tech session near south beach and were taught by tony callas, very very bright guy
Learned a ton.....

Anyway, were were in our chevy "speck" rental cruising along, crested a hill and a tropped was coming the oppisite direction on the turnpike.....didn't see his brake lights so kept on trucking.....
About 3 minutes later the red and blues were in the rear view mirror LOL
Said he clocked me at 86 in a 70......took my perfectly clean liscense back to his cruiser....
Came back and gave me a ticked which he reduced to 79 in a 70 which would save me about $100......total fin for ticket is $131, but can get out of the points by doing an online school......

Oh well, I know I was speeding and got popped, I had a good clean run though LOL

Also he said our speck could really cook, I told him I didn't think so as we were porsche guys so I wasn't really paying attention as it was slow as **** LOL

I am working on 21 years of ticket free driving. I've been pulled over many times, but no tickets since I was 16. Never pulled over for anything too extreme that a good attitude and demeanor can't get me out of there with a just warning.

23 years w/ drivers license, 2 warnings in that time. 1st warning was for walking on I-75, the other was for expired tag (w/ replacement tag in my hand, going home for tools to change it over).

About 7 -8 years since the last one.

The story:

Annual goose hunting trip to 'Neb'. with a friend. WWAAYY more weapons and ammo than necessary.

Pulled over.......Co. State Trooper. Asked if I know how fast I'm going......hmmm, about 90?......... I clocked you at 89..........well the speedometer must be pretty accurate then...., just shook his head.

Reduced the ticket to 1-9 over and reminded me not to fight it, or....he would see me in court.

And to think that the little Jetta got 38 mpg at 90. FULLY loaded. But it is downhill...................

Yea when the trooper asked me how fast I thought I was going I did say 80'ish......which I'm sure helped his decision in reducing the fined speed....
When approached by cops....I learned a long time ago that the best results will come from being polite and to not lie in any way....

Was pulled over this summer after expressing too much displeasure in having a Scion pull a poorly executed BS pass into oncoming traffic. My expression resulted in what turned out to be a teenage girl and her friend calling my Jetta TDI wagon into the local PO-PO, a traffic stop, explanation, license run and the officer forwarding Amanda's apologies to me . I can't imagine many teens call in another motorist thinking that they will end-up apologizing.

I've never once been pulled over and let off with a warning. I've had tickets reduced, but never once have I been pulled over and NOT received a ticket. Just got another one a few days ago. My fault entirely - I should've been paying much closer attention, and if you're doing 27 over and NOT paying attention, you deserved to get a wake-up call, IMO!

Actually thinking back now, I got a ticket a few months ago for not wearing a seatbelt.

I was actually pulled over for slow-rolling a right-on-red instead of stopping completely. Cop was super nice and gave me a $10 seat belt ticket instead of a running a red ticket- even though I had only just taken my seat belt off as I had pulled into the taco bell where he stopped me.

I knew well enough that a $10 seat belt ticket is better than the several hundred dollar red light ticket..

I did get pulled over about 5 months back on the access road to my old development....it was a bs 25mph zone and 5:30am......she ran my liscense and let me go, didn't even give me a warning, just said have a nice day......I was hoping the same would happen with the trooper, but if they don't get out of their car after 2 minutes you know you're getting written up.....LOL

I had that happen once... Still just got a warning.... I wasn't speeding, just swerved one too many times in the big azz pickup. I'm sure he thought I was DUI.

Same thing, but I was 16 a lot more recently. Last time I was stopped was a couple of years ago in Oregon. I knew I was still going a bit over 70 (just came across the border from Tri-Cities) and fessed up to it. They both came back a minute later and told me to keep it at 65 until we got to Idaho then took off.

I have twice. I was really surprised each time. I knew I was nailed. Man, that's like Christmas and does every bit as much good in waking one up as actually getting the ticket.

No more. The cops are writing for the money and their jobs.

The Copper Queen Hotel restaurant in Bisbee, Arizona (a historic mining town 1.5 hours southeast of Tucson [well, at 100 mph, anyway]) used to make the best pancakes I ever had. My girlfriend at the time, who lived in a small US/Mexico border town about 25-30 miles south of there, and I would frequent the restaurant for Sunday breakfast.

While at her house one Sunday morning about 9:10 am, we decided that the Copper Queen's pancakes were on this morning's menu. We both knew that breakfast ended there at straight up 10:00 am...Not a minute later. So we knew we would have to rush to make it. She had to get all prim and proper and I had to get fuel for the Pcar.

We left her house at 9:37 am...23 minutes before the iron doors slammed shut, and it took a few minutes to get through her little town before we made it to the open single lane highway to Bisbee. I turned the radar detector on and spun the Turbo up until we were doing about 125 mph.

Starting to come over a small rise a few miles from Bisbee, my detector pegged it's strength meter and growled at me like my Doberman defending her food. I immediately hit the binders as hard as I could and slowed down like we were entering Turn 1 at Infineon Raceway. There on the other side of the rise was a Bisbee policeman, parked with his radar gun pointed right at us. I could tell that he just got his first catch of the day.

Even though I drove past him just above the 55 mph speed limit like an innocent choir boy on the way to church, he slowly pulled around to follow me at a distance, anyway. After a couple of miles or so he pulled closer and turned his lights on and we both pulled over. Since I was going so fast, I just knew I was going to jail.

After we stopped, I checked my rear view for him for the longest time, but the lawman just sat there in that damn patrol car like he was finishing his morning coffee. My headers were popping and pinging as I saw him put on his straw cowboy hat as he was exiting his white Vickie and he finally and slowly moseyed towards my car. My eyebrows raised as I looked in my side view mirror and saw how giant of a man he truly was. He stood silently at my window for 30 seconds to a minute before saying anything, and during that time I could see that Buford's big western belt buckle was at least as high as my roof (I call him, Buford, cuz' this guy had to be at least 6'9" and 350 lbs.) He finally says in a low, slow drawl, "Do you have any idea how fast you were goin', boy?" (Even though we were only 20 single highway miles from Mexico, I let the "boy" comment slide...lol Hell, I was 45 years old!)

Holy ****!!! Of course I knew how fast I was going! I'm in a freaking Pcar, here! The $64,000 question was, "At what speed did you catch me, Buford??!!"

Before I replied, I hesitated for just a millisecond to replay the whole scenario in my mind in an attempt to make a quick determination of the speed I thought he would have caught me at. Without much conviction, I said, "I think I was going 67."

Well, at least he didn't laugh.

After I replied, he looked at me shaking his head in the negatory manner...And once again hesitated for the longest time before stating, "Noooooo............You weren't goinnnggg..........67." And as he, once again hesitated before he spoke, I cringed and clenched my fists waiting for the terrible truth.

(I swear, this guy must have watched "Smokey and the Bandit" 5,000 times and practiced his act in front of the mirror as many times to get all of Jackie Gleason's mannerisms down, because this guy had quite the penchant for the dramatic). Finally, he said, "................You were going...........Seventyyyy-Twwooo."

As I heard the "Twwooo", blood rushed back to my head and I was able to unclench my fists. On the inside, I was laughing out loud! I was thinking to my self! "Holy ****!! I slowed down almost a double nickle before he tagged me!!!!"

"Hallelujah!!!"

After telling me my speed, he inexplicitly gave up the Buford T. Justice act and became a real person, kindly and politely informing me (without hesitation, even) that he would drop the speed on my ticket to 65 mph so I could take advantage of a $25 ticket the City of Bisbee had, termed; "Waste of a Finite Resource" (wasting fuel due to speeding), and that said ticket was not reported to any outside agency or insurance company.

I signed the ticket. We each took our turn saying, "Thank you.", and I quietly drove away laughing to myself thinking, "Holy ****, we slowed down 53 mph!!!

Needless to say, we didn't get our pancakes.
